• One way Clutches are attached to and allow specific planetary gear sets to only rotate in one direction. Also called Sprags, Roller Clutches and Spring and Roller kits
• By preventing specific planetary gear sets to only rotate in one direction it allows the transmission to achieve different gear ratios (shift to and from 1st, 2nd 3rd, Reverse, etc.)
• One way Clutches are held in place my springs and rollers (also called elements) and wear over time and should be replaced when rebuilding a transmission to maintain proper shift quality
