      Get the OEM part if you have a 2004 CR-V and save yourself a lot of time

      Set out to change serpentine belt and tensioner on my 2004 Honda CR-V w/ 2.4L DOHC. Couldn't get the belt off with anything I had including a Craftsman serpentine belt tool set so I forked over the cash and special ordered the factory equivalent tool through another channel. The OEM tensioner pulley bolt was 14mm and I was easily able to take the belt off using the special tool. Swapped out the tensioners and as I went to put on the new belt the first issue I ran into was the Duralast tensioner pulley bolt head was 15mm instead of 14mm. So after one use my 14mm factory tool was already going to the back of the toolbox (no returns on special orders). I then took out my Craftsman serpentine belt tool and installed the belt, at which time we had the second issue... I could not get the serpentine belt tool off of the pulley once it was in the tensioned position. The pulley on this Duralast tensioner sticks out a lot further than the OEM unit, and right across from the pulley on the frame was a metal bracket that holds the lower power steering hose. The serpentine belt tool was hitting the bracket and there was not enough space to twist it off of the pulley bolt. I then had to take the serpentine belt back off again, remove the bolt holding the power steering hose/ bracket to push it aside, and then put the belt back on a second time. Afterwards, with the larger Duralast tensioner pulley in the way, it took many attempts working at the tips of my fingers in a very small space to finally get the power steering bracket bolt reinstalled. I was not happy with the extra time this aftermarket tensioner cost me. In the end, if I ever have to take the serpentine belt off again, it's almost certain that I'll install an OEM tensioner at that time...
