    • Coils produce high voltage necessary to ignite air/fuel mixture in the combustion chamber
    • When not replaced, vehicle could experience any of the following: no/hard start, long crank time, misfire, lack of power, inconsistent transmission shift points, spark plug fouling, catalytic converter failure, poor fuel economy, CEL/MIL illumination
    • Designed to operate dependably and reliably under all operating conditions and throughout the entire engine speed range for peak engine performance
    • DIS (Distributorless Ignition System) eliminates the distributor by adjusting the timing through various sensor inputs to the on-board computer; DIS increases engine output and fuel economy over previous systems while reducing harmful emissions
    • Coil features highly conductive aluminum towers and a high dielectric sleeve that prevents arcing between the primary and secondary windings (a primary cause of coil failure) which is not found on OE nor competitive coils
    • Precision wound copper primary winding for consistent coil output and segregated secondary bobbin for improved conductivity and durability

Notes: Quantity per car: 3"It is best to test your old parts first. A Wells test sheet bulletin is available for this coil". Before replacing this coil, check some other common "system" issues first a) the module for shorted drivers, b) the ignition wires for high resistance and c) the spark plugs for excessive wear. The root causes need to be fixed, else the replacement of ignition coil ONLY could damage the part just replaced.

3 years of "intermittent stall outs" fixed by replacing coil packs

For the last 2-3 years my 1998 GMC sonoma w/ 2.2 liter 4 cylinder, stalled out randomly. Since it was random it was hard to troubleshoot. Truck was taken in 4 times in the past few years and no mechanic ever found the problem.
My brother was visiting and was aware of the stalling issue.
I was ready to get rid of the truck but since no one makes small trucks anymore, I really hated to.
He read some forums online and wanted to try replacing the 2 coil packs.
The local store had these in stock. So I went to the store while he pulled the front passenger side tire and jacked up the front of the truck.
NOTE: The easiest way to access is to go through the rubber mud flaps in the wheel well, of passenger front tire.
The old coil packs were originals, as they had the numbers of the cylinders stenciled on each pack.
NOTE 2: to access the 2 screws that hold the coil packs to the ignition module, and then to the side of engine, you need about 18 inch to 24 inches of socket extension(s). We did not have that so we had to use a small "Stubby" socket wrench that also pivoted. It worked but was very hard to get any sort of leverage on the 2 screws/bolts, in order to remove them.

It took about 3 hours total, to remove and replace.

The truck has been running GREAT ever since replacing these 2 coil packs.

NOTE 3: my brother tested the old modules w/ meter, as outlined in the Chiltons manual troubleshooting flowchart.
The 2 coil packs were ALL within SPEC.Both modules were "Bulging" slightly, from internal corrosion/rust. I am so glad we went ahead and REPLACED BOTH COIL PACKS even though they ohm'd out fine. Something inside the coil packs was either breaking down after they run for awhile and get hot. Or due to the corrosion, or both.

Pros: 1. cheap 2. fixed a 3 year old problem 3. in stock at local store 4. only needed 2 for my 4-cylinder 2.2liter engine

      Cons: None so far
