REESE Towpower heavy duty power converter incorporates circuit protection and is designed to even handle the requirements of interpreting and decoding multiplex signals found on BMW and Mercedes vehicles. Designed to function with LED and incandescent lighting systems it draws power directly from the vehicle battery and uses less than 5 mA of the vehicle circuit in sensing when to turn the trailer functions on and off. The unit is rated for up to 4.2 A for the turn and stop circuits and 7.5 A for the tail light circuit. This converter can also be used on standard two wire circuits when extra lights on the trailer may overload the current vehicles system.
