    1. Remove hub bearing and axle shaft.
    2.  
    3. Disconnect the tie-rod or drag link from the steering knuckle arm.
    4.  
    5. Remove the cotter pins from the upper and lower ball studs.
    6.  
    7. Remove the upper and lower ball stud nuts.
    8.  
    9. Strike the steering knuckle with a brass hammer to loosen knuckle from the ball studs. Remove knuckle from ball studs.
    10.  

    To install:

    1. Position the steering knuckle on the ball studs.
    2.  
    3. Install and tighten the bottom retaining nut to 80 ft. lbs. (109 Nm). Install new cotter pin.
    4.  
    5. Install and tighten the top retaining nut to 75 ft. lbs. (101 Nm). Install new cotter pin.
    6.  
    7. Install the hub bearing and axle shaft.
    8.  
    9. Connect the tie-rod or drag link end to the steering knuckle arm.
    10.  

    1. Raise and support the vehicle.
    2.  
    3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
      CAUTION
      Never allow the disc brake caliper to hang from the brake hose. Damage to the brake hose will result. Provide a suitable support to hang the caliper securely.

    5. Remove the brake caliper.
    6.  
    7. Remove the caliper adapter
    8.  
    9. Remove the O-ring and discard then remove disc brake rotor
    10.  
    11. Remove the wheel speed sensor.
    12.  
    13. Remove the axle shaft nut (if equipped with four wheel drive).
    14.  
    15. Remove the hub/bearing.
    16.  
    17. Remove the outer tie rod end retaining nut.
    18.  
    19. Separate the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle using special tool 8677.
    20.  
    21. Remove the lower ball joint nut.
    22.  
    23. Separate the lower ball joint from the knuckle using tool C-4150A.
    24.  
    25. Remove the upper ball joint nut.
    26.  
    27. Separate the upper ball joint from the knuckle using tool 8677 .
    28.  
    29. Remove the knuckle from the vehicle.
    30.  

    To install:

    1. Install the knuckle to the vehicle.
    2.  
    3. Install the lower ball joint into the knuckle.
    4.  
    5. Install the lower ball joint nut. Tighten the nut to 60 ft. lbs. (81 Nm).
    6.  
    7. Install the upper ball joint into the knuckle
    8.  
    9. Install the upper ball joint nut. Tighten the nut to 60 ft. lbs. (81 Nm).
    10.  
    11. Install the outer tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
    12.  
    13. Install the hub/bearing . Tighten to 100 ft. lbs. (136 Nm).
    14.  
    15. If equipped with four wheel drive, install the axle shaft nut. Tighten the nut to 96 ft. lbs. (135 Nm).
    16.  
    17. Install the wheel speed sensor.
    18.  
    19. Install the disc brake rotor.
    20.  
    21. Install the caliper adapter.
    22.  
    23. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
    24.  
    25. Perform wheel alignment
    26.
