    Removal & Installation

    1. Remove the upper intake manifold.
    2.  
    3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    4.  
    5. Remove the Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) sensor.
    6.  

    To install:

    1. To install, reverse the removal procedure and note the following:
      1. Tighten the CHT sensor to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
      2.  
      3. For 2007 models tighten the CHT sensor to 89 inch. lbs. (10 Nm).

    6.0L Diesel Engine




    WARNING
    Make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position prior to working on the electronic engine controls.

    1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
    2.  
    3. Drain the cooling system.
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the cooling fan electrical connector.
    6.  
    7. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) electrical connector.
    8.  
    9. Remove the ECT sensor.
    10.  

    To install:

    1. To install, reverse the removal procedure and note the following:
      1. Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring before installation.
      2.  
      3. For early build vehicles, tighten to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
      4.  
      5. For late build vehicles, tighten to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
      6.  
      7. Fill and bleed the engine cooling system.

    1. Remove the upper intake manifold.

    5. Remove Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) sensor.

    7. To install, reverse the removal procedure and note the following:

    9. Coat the CHT sensor threads with high temperature nickel anti-seize lubricant prior to installation.
    10.  
    11. On 2005 Excursion models tighten the sensor to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
    12.  
    13. On 2005-07 Expedition and Navigator models tighten to 89 inch. lbs. (10 Nm).
