    Transmission Control Selector Switch

    removal & installation



    1. Place the shift control lever in N .
    2.  
    3. Raise and safely support the vehicle securely.
    4.  
    5. Remove the exhaust muffler to catalytic converter bolts and nuts.
    6.  
    7. Support the transmission with a transmission jack.
    8.  
    9. Remove the transmission crossmember to body bolts.
    10.  
    11. Lower the transmission enough to provide access to the switch.
    12.  
    13. Remove the switch cover.
    14.  
    15. Remove the switch harness connector from the bracket, pry it off using a suitable size tool.
    16.  
    17. Unbolt the transmission control selector shaft lever from the shaft.
    18.  
    19. Remove the switch bolts and the switch from the transmission.

    To install:

    1. Install the switch to the transmission and install the bolts loosely.
      1. Place the transmission in N .
      2.  
      3. Align the slot on the switch housing with the slot in the switch shaft.
      4.  
      5. Insert a 3 / 32 inch (2.4 mm) drill bit into both slots to ensure proper alignment.
      6.  
      7. Tighten the switch bolts to 106 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
      8.

    3. Install the transmission control selector shaft lever to the shaft and install the shaft nut.
    4.  
    5. Install the switch wire harness connector to the bracket.
      1. Use a plastic tie strap if connector clip is broken.
      2.  

    6.  
    7. Install the switch cover.
    8.  
    9. Raise the transmission into position and install the crossmember to body bolts and tighten to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).
    10.  
    11. Remove the transmission jack.
    12.  
    13. Install the muffler to catalytic converter bolts and nuts. Tighten the exhaust muffler to catalytic converter bolts an nuts to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
    14.  
    15. Lower the vehicle and check for proper operation of the switch using a scan tool.
