TESTING

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
See Figures 1, 2 and 3
- Fold down the rear seatback.
- Remove the quarter panel trim assembly.
- Fold back the carpet.
- Raise and safely support the vehicle. Place a jack or jackstands under the rear axle to provide support. The rear axle must be supported before removing the upper mounting nut to avoid any possible damage to the brake hose lines, tie rod and driveshaft.
- Unfasten the upper shock attaching nut. Remove the retainer and upper insulator.
- Remove the retainer and lower insulator.
- Remove the lower shock-to-rear axle mounting nut.

- Remove the shock absorber from the vehicle.

- Place the shock in position.
- Install the lower shock-to-axle mounting nut and tighten to 66 ft. lbs. (90 Nm).
- Install the lower insulator and retainer to the shock absorber.
- Position the shock absorber through the underbody pan and seat the insulator.
- Place the upper insulator and retainer to the shock absorber. Hand-start the upper retaining nut.
Turning the shock absorber while tightening the nut could damage the shock. To prevent damage, keep the shock absorber stationary when tightening the nut.
- Tighten the upper nut to 13 ft. lbs. (17 Nm).
- Remove the rear axle support, then carefully lower the vehicle.
- Reposition the carpet.
- Install the quarter panel trim assembly.
- Raise the rear seat seatback.
