    Intermediate Shaft



    1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
    2.  
    3. Remove the right halfshaft.
      NOTE
      If the left halfshaft has already been removed, install Differential Rotator T81P-4026-A into the left side of the differential before removing the intermediate shaft to maintain alignment within the differential.

    4.  
    5. Remove the intermediate shaft and support bearing.
    6.  

    To install:

    1. Install the intermediate shaft and tighten the support bearing nuts to 17-22 ft. lbs. (24-30 Nm).

    3. Install the right halfshaft.
    4.  

    Left




    NOTE
    Replace all snaprings, split pins and self-locking nuts.

    1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
    2.  
    3. Loosen the strut upper mount nut 5 turns.
    4.  
    5. Remove or disconnect the following:

      Wheel
       
      Splash shield
       
      Lower ball joint
       
      Outer tie rod end
       
      Stabilizer bar link
       

    6.  
    7. Separate the outer CV-joint and halfshaft from the wheel hub.

    9. Install CV-joint puller T86P-3514-A1 between the inner CV-joint and the transaxle case.
      NOTE
      If the intermediate shaft has already been removed, install Differential Rotator T81P-4026-A into the right side of the differential before removing the left shaft to maintain alignment within the differential.

    11. Remove the halfshaft.
    12.  

    To install:

    1. Install the halfshaft. A non-metallic mallet may be used to aid in seating the inner CV-joint into the differential side gear. Insert the stub shaft into the wheel hub and tighten the hub nut to 246 ft. lbs. (340 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Install or connect the following:

      Lower ball joint and tighten the pinch bolt to 61 ft. lbs. (83 Nm)
       
      Outer tie rod end and tighten the nut to 20 ft. lbs. (28 Nm)
       
      Stabilizer bar link and tighten the nut to 14-23 ft. lbs. (20-32 Nm)
       
      Splash shield
       
      Wheel and tighten the lug nuts to 63 ft. lbs. (86 Nm)
       

    4.  
    5. Tighten the strut upper mount nut to 34 ft. lbs. (46 Nm).
    6.  
    7. Road test the vehicle and check for proper operation.

    NOTE
