    The hydraulic solenoid relay is located externally on/or near the actuator. The relay supplies power to the actuator control solenoids and is controlled by the ECU. Power is supplied to the relay from the battery, through a fuse on 1991-94 vehicles, or a fusible link on 1995-96 vehicles.

    TESTING



    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    2.  
    3. Disconnect the hydraulic solenoid (5 terminal) relay located at or near the actuator.
    4.  
    5. Connect an ohmmeter between terminals 30 and 87A of the relay and verify there is continuity.
    6.  
    7. Connect an ohmmeter between terminals 30 and 87 of the relay and verify there is no continuity.
    8.  
    9. Connect a 12 volt source to terminals 85 and 86.
    10.  
    11. Verify there is no continuity between terminals 30 and 87A.
    12.  
    13. Next with the 12 volt source still connected to terminal 85 and 86, connect the ohmmeter between terminals 30 and 87 of the relay.
    14.  
    15. Verify there is continuity between terminals 30 and 87.
    16.  
    17. If not as specified, replace the relay.

    REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    2.  
    3. Locate the relay box and remove the cover.
    4.  
    5. Identify the proper relay and pull the relay from the box.
    6.  

    To install:
    1. Align the relay terminals with the sockets in the relay box and firmly press the relay into position.
    2.  
    3. Install the relay cover.
    4.  
    5. Connect the negative battery cable.
    6.
