    Header Operation:

The exhaust header is a tubular steel exhaust manifold rarely supplied on vehicles as original equipment. They are lighter than their cast iron counterparts and are usually smooth-flowing which creates less back pressure and increases horsepower. The unit(s) directs the exhaust gases from the combustion chambers to the exhaust pipe(s). It's usually located beneath the intake manifold area and bolted directly onto the side of the cylinder head. Models equipped for emissions are drilled and tapped for air tubes.
