    Ring Gear (Manual Transmission) Operation:

    Flywheel ring gear for manual transmission models is a large diameter press fit flywheel drive gear that meshes with the starter drive and turns the engine. In a rear-drive or a 4-wheel drive front or rear differential assembly, a differential ring gear meshes with the drive pinion or pinion gear. It transfers power from the drive shaft thru the axles and to the wheels.
