    Oil Filter Wrench

    Oil Filter Wrench Operation:

Usually a metal band-type wrench used to loosen and remove the oil filter during an oil change. Other types of wrenches attach at the bottom of the filter like a socket, wrap around the filter with a chain or grip the filter with spiral coils. Some models use a ratchet or tee-handle to turn the filter; others have the handle already attached.
