Wheel Stud Operation:
A vertically splined, raised shoulder stud that's pressed through the back of the axle hub, onto which the lug nuts are threaded to secure the wheel to the hub. Often it's swaged for a secure "press fit" and to prevent rotation. It's supplied with right and left hand threads; copper colored studsor nuts are left hand threads, also the stud itself will usually be marked with "l" on the end of the stud. Lightly lubricating the stud or nut assembly with an anti-seize compound assures ease of removal. When installing, apply the proper torque values to avoid problems.
How To Instructions:
- Check for obvious problems.
- Out with the old, in with the new.
