Point Set

Point Set Operation:

Also known as contact points, they comprise one stationary and one movable metal contact surface. They're held in place on the distributor by small screws or clips and an anchor post. When the points are closed, energy is stored in the primary windings of the coil. When the points open, energy is sent to the coil secondary windings and are stepped up, resulting in a high voltage to fire the plugs.
