Removing the Oil Pan
- When removing the pan, leave a row of screws in the front of the pan.
- Remove all of the other screws.
- Then, loosen the remaining screws in the front of the pan.
- Be sure to have a large fluid catch tray ready. Let the fluid spill into the catch tray and then carefully remove the pan.
There are usually 3 - 4 quarts of fluid in the pan. This weighs about 6 - 8 pounds. Be careful! The fluid is often quite hot and if the pan is not carefully removed, the fluid will spill out fast.
