On some vehicles, seal replacement is a simple procedure that involves removing the pinion flange and replacing the seal. However, always refer to the service manual for the correct procedure and note any special precautions that are to be taken.

- Remove the companion flange.
- Remove the seal with a hammer and chisel.

- Install the new seal with a seal installer to avoid cocking or damaging it.
- Lube the lip of the new seal and the mating surface of the companion flange before reinstalling it.
