    Timing Cover

    • When replacing the timing cover, remove the old gaskets and seals from the timing cover and engine block.
    • Install the new seal using a press, seal driver, or hammer and a clean block of wood.
    • When installing the seal, be sure to support the cover underneath to prevent damage.
    • Apply a light coating of adhesive on the timing cover and position the gasket on the cover. Some manufacturers recommend a sealant be used on both surfaces.
    • Check the service manual and gasket instructions.
    • Finally, mount the timing cover and torque the bolts to specifications.
