    Oil Pressure Switch

    Inspect/Test

Low oil pressure can ruin an otherwise good engine in a short time. Although the oil pump or oil regulator may not be working correctly, often the cause of a low oil pressure reading on an electric dash gauge or light is a faulty or damaged oil pressure sending unit, also known as an oil pressure switch.

It is always a good idea to double check to see if the oil pressure at the main oil gallery is actually low. If it is not low after checking the oil pressure, then the oil sending unit may be broken or damaged.

Inspect the oil pressure switch for any of the following conditions.

    • Loose or broken connection
    • Oil leak
