    2-Wheel Drive
    1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
    2.  
    3. Remove the or disconnect the following:
      NOTE
      The transmission flange bolts vary in length. Note their positions for assembly.



      Negative battery cable
       
      Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor
       
      Exhaust front pipes
       
      Exhaust rear pipes
       
      Transmission dipstick tube
       
      Transmission oil cooler lines
       
      Driveshaft
       
      Shift cable
       
      Transmission control harness connectors
       
      Vehicle Speed (VSS) sensor connector
       
      Starter motor
       
      Torque converter
       
      Transmission mount and crossmember. Support the transmission.
       
      Transmission flange bolts
       
      Transmission
       

    4.  

    To install:

    1. Install or connect the following:

      Transmission. Tighten the large bolts to 29 - 36 ft. lbs. (39 - 49 Nm) and the small bolts to 22 - 29 ft. lbs. (29 - 39 Nm).
       
      Transmission mount and crossmember. Tighten the mount and crossmember fasteners to 30 - 38 ft. lbs. (41 - 52 Nm).
       
      Torque converter. Tighten the bolts to 33 - 43 ft. lbs. (44 - 59 Nm).
       
      Starter motor
       
      VSS sensor connector
       
      Transmission control harness connectors
       
      Shift cable
       
      Driveshaft
       
      Transmission oil cooler lines
       
      Transmission dipstick tube
       
      Exhaust rear pipes
       
      Exhaust front pipes
       
      CKP sensor
       
      Negative battery cable

    To install:

    4.  

    To install:

    1. Install the transmission assembly. Refer to the illustration for bolt identification.
      1. Tighten #1 and #3 bolts to 52 - 59 (70 - 80 Nm).
      2.  
      3. Tighten #2 bolts to 22 - 29 (29 - 39 Nm).
