I bought a blower motor from Auto Zone the other day, only to find I had bought the wrong blower motor. I was assured that there were not differences between different production times. Apparently, after hours and hours of scouring blogs, auto websites, and of course Google, I found out that during mid-production of the 2005 Cobalt, Chevy changed the type of blower unit they install. I believe this to be the same as the 05 Cavalier (as the Cobalt was the answer to replacing the Cavalier). Both Cavaliers in my driveway have blower motors that are the same. Chevy went cheaper yet again and used "heat steaks" on the blower motor( HEAT STEAK DEFINITION: CHEAP PLASTIC RIVET-LIKE THING ... sad to say this is the most help I got and this is everywhere on the web). Anyways, apparently you have to chisel-off or drill-out these stupid things... WELL ... did that, but now I find out that it doesn't even fit or have the right plug... I have 3 extra "bumps" of plastic that have hex bolts in them and nowhere to put them in this "one fits all" part. So, this part was completely useless to me, I will have to look elsewhere for this STOCK part. I still am searching the web for a model that will fit these extra "bumps" (apparently nobody deals this stock part). Now I have to take it back (30 min drive) and wait on a dealer to order them (because Chevy doesn't make enough money to have an informative website about their products). These bumps that I am talking about are not heat steaks, but they are on a model with heat steaks. Oh yes, and the plug is completely different.. and I wasn't told of the variations for that either, even though I specifically asked.
