AZ warranty good Slave cylinder... Not so much

Replaced factory slave at 180K miles with worn clutch. Five years and four slave cylinders later I was instructed by the Autozone manager to upgrade to the OEM slave. After reviewing forums and seeing many reviews like the one I'm writing now, I agreed. First bad slave cylinder was bought online to save money. I learned my lesson when it went bad. That's when I decided I should purchase the next one from the local Autozone. Three of the Four faulty parts came from Autozone Two of the Three of the slaves leaked fluid internally and one exploded. The one time it exploded I was stranded on the side of the road but the other three seemed to always occur when the temperature dropped. Autozone replaced the product no questions asked. If you know anything about this item, you know the transmission and exhaust system must be removed to replace it. However, getting good at removing and reinstalling my transmission isn't a desired skill I'm going for. Autozone didn't make this product, they just happen to sale it. The odds of getting this many bad products is very rare... Unless the product quality is poor.

    Pros: Easy to connect

    Cons: Not very reliable

This is a high quality product for Ford F150

I purchased this slave cylinder along with a clutch set together because of the price. I didnt have a lot of money to spend. I was thinking that I maybe sacrificing quality by paying a lower price. boy was I wrong. This slave cylinder and clutch set works perfectly without any hicupps or issues what so ever.

Pros: quality product at an excellent price

    Cons: none

    Not the worst design

0 of 1 people found this helpful

I put the same for the pros and cons because it is a nice design if you have to take the transmission out. Remove the spring clip and the line pops right out. Recently however where I live we have had some severe negative degree temps. The spring clip isn't strong enough to hold the line in when the brake fluid gets that cold and partially congeals. It popped out twice in my driveway and once while going down the road. Granted it's easy enough just to reconnect the line but it's a inconvenience when it's that cold. Thinking that it would help I wrapped 2 zip ties around the ends of the clip and it did for the most part but 1 time the line still popped out.

Pros: Spring clip installed for easy line disconnection and reconnection without needing special tools or bleeding

Cons: Spring Clip installed for easy line disconnection without needing special tools
