My 84 Nissan 720 4WD truck started showing a battery light, glowing in various intensities depending on how much stuff was turned on. At the same time, my volts guage always read too hot (15 to 16 volts), telling me the voltage regulator (inside the alternator) was probably toast.
Fortunately in my case, since my truck is equipped with a battery light on the instrument panel AND a volts guage below the radio, I would know right away if I got a bad alternator. Well I didn't. The part came, I installed it with no problems whatsoever (just be careful to note which wires came off of which terminals. DO NOT connect wires to the lugs based on what position they are, but instead, connect them according to HOW THEY ARE LABELED.
Once it was installed, I started the truck - no more glowing battery light, and the volts guage now reads a happy 14-15 volts.
Maybe I was one of the fortunate guys that got a working alternator on the first try...

Pros: Exactly the right fix for my truck

Cons: Not much in the way of instructions for electrical connections
