Vehicle Specific

Part Number: 305318
Features & Benefits

Duralast™ Automatic Belt Tensioners are made by Dayco; this Duralast™ tensioner is specifically built to outperform and outlast competitive OE parts. Each component is built to resist rust, endure the toughest of conditions while promoting quieter performance and longer life.

  • This Duralast Automatic Belt Tensioner is manufactured with a specially coated patented flat wire spring to allow the internal tension to be concentric, thus providing a more even degree of constant tension
  • The patented Deflected Arm Plate dampens arm movement, prolonging the life of the tensioner by limiting the amount of rotational movement
  • The heavy duty cast aluminum spring case resists cracking and fatigue
  • This tensioner is another Dayco® product proudly made in the USA

    Product failed after one year

Product lasted just over a year. I would not use this brand again. It came apart at the tension joint threw the belt and tore the belt up.

    Cons: Short life span

    NEVER NEVER get this part.

I've had decent result with other Duralast products so I am very VERY annoyed this broke.

I was not certain if it's the Dayco belt or the tensioner, the belt was probably fine. I bought both at the same time from Autozone. This job is now costing me TWICE as much in money and time. Hopefully I didn't do permanent damage by overheating the engine because this drives the waterpump pulley. Which could end up costing LOTS more. I made sure to turn off my car at every stop light on my way to the mechanics though. I'm going to stick with OEM Ford Motorcraft parts from now on from the stealerships.

    Very VERY pissed off.

    Pros: cheap junk.

Cons: Do NOT buy. Lasted 4 months of LIGHT driving.

    Breaks Easy & Soon

First one lasted five months and second lasted two months. Left wife stranded, no power steering. She could barely get into parking lot. DO NOT TRUST THIS PART. Won't buy Duralast tensioner ever again.

    Pros: None

Cons: Pulley arm bends after a couple of months

    Be carefull

Had this part on my 01 Focus zx3 for about a year until the pulley seized up and sent fragments of my brand new Duralast serpentine belt through my timing cover, breaking my timing belt. When the timing belt gets broke in this engine, the engine has to either be replaced or rebuilt. I chose to rebuild. Now i have a freshly rebuilt engine that is almost ready to run, however i need this part again. Will i buy it again knowing the circumstances of its failure? If i do repurchase this part i will be watching it very closely and immediately changing it at any signs of failure. This is not anybody at my local Auto Zones fault nor is it mine. For many years auto manufactures design and produce many parts for many cars not all of these are perfect or the best design. Its just best that it gets inspected a little more frequently.

    Pros: Cheap and available.

    Cons: Life expectancy

    Short lived part

First one lasted 8 months, second one 2 months. Tried 2 different quality belts at replacement and cant say for sure if they aren't at least partially at fault.

    Cons: Didn't last long
