    long story long

first time I used the tool to take out one of these I had a lot of trouble. apparently a previous owner used some sort of leak stop pellets or something that caused the fins to bond to the pump housing so it wasn't as easy as it looked on any you tube video I'd seen. it is important to know that if there is a leak do not used the repair stuff in this engine. just find what's leaking and fix it. fortunately after I broke all the fins and components from the old pump down to that shaft and the tabs in the housing were exposed, I was able to see what happened.. the pellets melted between the tabs and crusted all over them.
with the entire pump broken the problem was exposed I got a tip from a forum and used a 900 degree heat gun and cooked the area and chipped away at it with a chisel at first then a long flat head because I didn't want to damage the engine.. it was still a risk but I ended up catching the tab with a screw driver and finally spun it loose.
these are not instructions but only my experience I did this thinking I was going to destroy the housing..
luckily I didn't and saved thousands of dollars but it was still a risk

at the end of the day
don't used radiator pellets or leak stop or anything like that in this car just find the leaks and fix them it will save you trouble in the long run..
my car runs great and the new pump works fine I have a lifetime warranty don't forget there is a seal sold separately and the thermostat is right there so you might as well buy one of those too.
    good luck
