    Works great, on 272k 5.3 engine no more Valve Lifter noise.

    06 GMC Sierra 5.3 4x4. 272,000 original miles. Previous oil pressure with 10w40 plus thick additives. 20 psi at 600 rpm. 35 psi at 1800 RPM (highway speed). New Melling 10296. 30+ psi at idle and 45+ at highway cruising speed 1800 rpm. Now using 10w-30. Cold engine 45 to 50 psi when oil is thick and cold. It gets oil circulated quickly when first starting. The 10296 comes wit two pressure springs. The blue one is the standard pressure spring and will raise the pressure about 8% over the stock. The red pressure spring is for much higher pressure applications (racing). So check with Melling tech via email for the correct pump and spring. They also provide a list. If your engine has allot of miles it is likely your crank main bearings and have a bit more tolerance thus the 10296 would be the better choice.

    Was chasing noisy valve lifters at start and int. valve lifter noise while driving with old stock pump. Have not heard one lifter "tick" since the new Pump was installed. Now I can sleep at night!!!!

    Used all of the valve lifter additives, none worked, IT WAS NOT THE VALVE LIFTERS IT WAS A WORN STOCK PUMP. Your situation may be different.

    Difficult install with oil pan on. Studied YouTube videos, Removed the infamous pick up tube bolt (and relocated to upper threaded mount in the bottom of pump). Used Hemostats and Spider wire with slip knots to catch bottom oil pan bolt when you removed it with the Hemostats. I used a die grinder and cutter to relocate and turn the keyed lock washer on the oil pick up tube going into the bottom of the new pump pump bolt so in the future it will be easier to service. (see youtube videos) Primed engine and new pump. Also replaced timing chain gears and sprockets when doing repairs.

    Make sure to have the correct pullers for the H balancer. I used a OTC 6667 to pull and had to modify the presser rented from A zone with a longer bolt to press balancer on.

    Overall do-able but a difficult repair if you leave the oil pan on. I felt great after it was done once I saw the BIG improvement with oil pressure.

    This worked perfect with my circumstances, Do your homework, watch the videos, Azone store personnel were very helpful. BE PATIENT!!! If you have valve lifter noise and additives do not do the trick and have low oil pressure similar to my circumstances, then this may solve your issue.

    Pros: Kicked up pressure and VOLUME. Really follows engine RPM for great engine lubrication

    Cons: Use of Torx bolts for front cover. CAREFUL when removing Torx bolts if setting pump with feeler guages and pressure relief alen bolt. VERY TIGHT. Wish Melling would have used Hex bolts I let them know
