As a fishing guide I run a 36 volt Trolling Motor, I had it worked out so I could replace one of the 3 Batteries every year. The Duralast Heavy Duty 29 M Series Battery would only reach 12.4 volts after a full charge right from the beginning. So it did not last it 3 year service cycle, hooked in series on a 36 volt system is easier on a battery than by itself. I couldn't see this battery lasting 1 year on a 12 volt system

Needed a new battery so I went to my local AutoZone. Bought the deep cycle marine battery thinking it would be better than my old walmart battery that never let me down. The first one wouldn't hold 12.7. It would drop down to 12.1 with no load. Took it back. Got another one. 2 cells at 50% and one cell dead. Took it back. Got the 3rd and its holding 12.5v. All three batteries were dated 12/13 and today is the 4 of July. 7 months old right off the shelf.

I'm $126.00 out of pocket with a worthless battery in my boat. No battery to trade in to get a good marine battery from walmart. AutoZone has lost my business from now on.

Pros: Nothing

These Duralast Batteries ALL SUCK!

I purchased my first 24MD-DL "Deep Cycle" Duralast marine battery in March 2010. It failed to hold charge in spring of 2011. Replaced under warranty in April 2011. On March 16, 2014 I was load testing my boat batteries to ready my boat for this season. (NOTE: My boat is garage-kept in winter). The 500 CCA Duralast failed to hold its capacity, only reading 240 CCA max after numerous tries to charge it up. This was of course discovered one month under their "three year" warranty. Checking my receipt verified another "bad battery experience" from Duralast. So I need to replace yet-another battery now for this year.

Those who think if a battery can read 12V output, " it is good" - don't know enough about a battery. It should not only read over 12 or even 13-14 volts after charging, but its specific gravity (acid in cells) and most importantly its capacity in "cold cranking amps" (CCA) need to be verified with proper tools. THEN you know what you have.

These Duralast are cheezy batteries only made to last a year. Any longer and you have a bonus, but you also are at risk that they will let you down anytime soon out on the water. The pro-rating warranty doesn't make up for the potential hardship, hassle, or work to replace the battery. The warranty is really no help at all - but a "rip" -since you must replace it with another "loser" battery while the Mfgr.gets more of your money.

Writing "good" reviews - giving 3-4 stars on a battery "just installed" - (or one that fails in even 3 years) - is just plain ignorant - since neither prove "quality" at all. What has happened to battery quality overall is sad considering the cost - but the "Duralast" name itself is an oxy-moron since it WILL NOT "last".

Costing over $100 each, never again will I buy a battery from the Zone and I am considering moving my business elsewhere if these batteries represent the typical quality of their parts.

Cons: Maximum 2 years 11 month life

Marine battery failure

The battery would not hold a charge after a complete discharge. Something drained the battery down. Totally dead. The battery was 14 months old. Had to eat 114.00. It was used as a starting battery. Not a trolling motor battery.
Next time I need a marine battery I will look elsewhere.
I have Auto Zone batteries in 4 vehicles, 2 lawn mowers and 3 in the boat. Thats 9 batteries. I have always sung praises about Auto Zone batteries to every one.
Will NOT recommend Auto Zone marine batteries.
