  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2.
  3. Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECT) harness connector.
  4.
  5. Turn the ignition on.
  6.
  7. With a scan tool, read the ECT sensor voltage.
  8.
  9. The sensor voltage should be approximately 5.0 volts (plus or minus .1 volt) with the connector disconnected.
  10.
  11. Turn the ignition off.
  12.
  13. Connect a jumper wire between the (K2) Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECT) signal circuit and the (K900) sensor ground circuit in the ECT harness connector.
  14.
  15. Turn the ignition on.
  16.
  17. With a scan tool, read the voltage.
  18.
  19. The sensor voltage should be approximately 0.0 volts (plus or minus .1 volt) with the jumper wire in place.
  20.
  21. If voltage is present as stated suspect faulty ECT sensor.
