Throttle Body

Removal & Installation



2.7L Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect inlet hose from the throttle body.
  4.  
  5. Label and detach all electrical connectors and vacuum hose(s).
  6.  
  7. Remove 3 throttle body bolts, then remove throttle body.
  8.  
  9. Thoroughly clean the gasket mating surfaces.
    WARNING
    Do not use spray (carburetor) cleaners on any part of the throttle body. Do not apply silicone lubricants to any part of the throttle body.

  10.  

To install:

  1. Install a new throttle body gasket.
  2.  
  3. Install throttle body and bolts. Torque the bolts to 105 inch lbs. (11.9 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Connect the electrical connectors.
  6.  
  7. Connect vacuum hoses.
  8.  
  9. Install inlet hose and tighten clamp.
  10.  
  11. Connect negative cable to battery.
    NOTE
    A Scan Tool may be used to learn electrical parameters. Go to the Miscellaneous menu, and then select ETC Relearn. If the relearn is not preformed, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set. If necessary, use a scan tool to erase any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) from PCM.

3.5L Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect inlet hose from the throttle body.
  4.  
  5. Label and detach all electrical connectors and vacuum hose(s).
  6.  
  7. Remove the throttle body support bracket.
  8.  
  9. Remove throttle body bolts and the throttle body.
  10.  
  11. Thoroughly clean the gasket mating surfaces.
    WARNING
    Do not use spray (carburetor) cleaners on any part of the throttle body. Do not apply silicone lubricants to any part of the throttle body.

To install:

  1. Install a new throttle body gasket.
  2.  
  3. Install the throttle body and torque the bolts to 105 inch lbs. (11.9 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the throttle body support bracket to the bottom of the throttle body. Tighten the bolts to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Connect the vacuum hoses and electrical connectors.
  8.  
  9. Install inlet hose and tighten clamp.
  10.  
  11. Connect negative cable to battery.
    NOTE
    A Scan Tool may be used to learn electrical parameters. Go to the Miscellaneous menu, and then select ETC Relearn. If the relearn is not preformed, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set. If necessary, use a scan tool to erase any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) from PCM.

5.7L Engine

WARNING
Do not use spray (carburetor) cleaners on any part of the throttle body. Do not apply silicone lubricants to any part of the throttle body.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove rubber air duct from the front of throttle body.
  4.  
  5. Detach the electrical connector from the throttle body.
  6.  
  7. Remove the four throttle body mounting bolts.
  8.  
  9. Remove throttle body from intake manifold.
  10.  
  11. Clean and check condition of throttle body O-ring at front of intake manifold.
  12.  
  13. Clean mating surfaces of throttle body and intake manifold (1).
  14.  

To install:

  1. Install throttle body to intake manifold by positioning throttle body to manifold alignment pins.
  2.  
  3. Install and tighten four mounting bolts to 105 inch lbs. (11.9 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Attach the electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. Install the rubber air hose to throttle body.
    NOTE
    A Scan Tool may be used to learn electrical parameters. Go to the Miscellaneous menu, and then select ETC Relearn. If the relearn is not preformed, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set. If necessary, use a scan tool to erase any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) from PCM.
