Removal & Installation



  1. Disconnect and isolate battery negative cable from battery post.
  2.  
  3. Using a brake pedal holding tool, depress brake pedal past its first inch of travel and hold it in this position.
  4.  
  5. Holding pedal in this position will isolate master cylinder from hydraulic brake system and will not allow brake fluid to drain out of brake fluid reservoir while brake lines are open.
  6.  
  7. Remove brake tubes at hydraulic control unit.
  8.  
  9. Remove remaining brake tubes at hydraulic control unit.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect 47-way wiring connector at Antilock Brake Module (ABM).
  12.  
  13. Pull up on unit and remove from mounting grommets.
  14.  

To install:

  1. Install unit, pushing mounting bracket down into mounting grommets located in body of vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Connect 47-way wiring connector at Antilock Brake Module (ABM).
  4.  
  5. Install brake tubes to rear at hydraulic control unit.
  6.  
  7. Tighten tube nuts to 177 inch lbs. (20 Nm) torque.
  8.  
  9. Install brake tubes at hydraulic control unit.
  10.  
  11. Tighten tube nuts to 177 inch lbs. (20 Nm) torque.
  12.  
  13. Remove brake pedal holding tool.
  14.  
  15. Connect battery negative cable to battery post. It is important that this is performed properly.
  16.  
  17. Fill and bleed base brake hydraulic system and ABS.
  18.  
  19. Perform Verification Test and clear any faults.
  20.
