Wheel Speed Sensors

Removal & Installation



AWD Vehicles
  1. Raise and support vehicle.
    NOTE
    To remove sensor connector from body wiring harness connector, move retaining clip and pull sensor connector outward.

  2.  
  3. Remove sensor cable routing clip from brake hose bracket.
  4.  
  5. Remove sensor connector from body wiring harness connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove screw fastening wheel speed sensor to knuckle.
  8.  
  9. Pull sensor head out of knuckle.
  10.  
  11. Remove wheel speed sensor cable routing clip from knuckle.
  12.  
  13. Remove wheel speed sensor.

To install:

  1. Install wheel speed sensor head into knuckle and install mounting screw.
  2.  
  3. Tighten screw to 95 inch lbs. (11 Nm) torque.
  4.  
  5. Attach wheel speed sensor cable and routing clip to knuckle.
  6.  
  7. Attach sensor cable routing clip to brake hose bracket.
  8.  
  9. Connect sensor connector to body wiring harness connector. When installing connector, make sure retaining clip on body connector is properly in place and sensor connect cannot be pulled out.
  10.  
  11. Lower vehicle.
  12.  
  13. Perform Verification Test and clear any faults.
  14.  

RWD Vehicles
  1. Raise and support vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove sensor cable routing clip from brake hose bracket.
    NOTE
    To release sensor connector from body wiring harness connector , move retaining clip and pull sensor connector outward.

  4.  
  5. Remove sensor connector from body wiring harness connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove screw fastening wheel speed sensor to knuckle.
  8.  
  9. Pull sensor head out of knuckle.
  10.  
  11. Remove wheel speed sensor cable routing clip from brake hose routing bracket.

To install:

  1. Install wheel speed sensor head into knuckle and install mounting screw.
  2.  
  3. Tighten screw to 95 inch lbs. (11 Nm) torque.
  4.  
  5. Attach wheel speed sensor cable and routing clip to brake hose routing bracket.
  6.  
  7. Attach sensor cable routing clip to brake hose bracket.
  8.  
  9. Connect sensor connector to body wiring harness connector. When installing connector, make sure retaining clip on body connector is properly in place and sensor connect cannot be pulled out.
  10.  
  11. Lower vehicle.
  12.  
  13. Perform Verification Test and clear any faults.
