Main relay supplies power to fuel pump relay, fuel injectors, Ignition Discharge Module (IDM), Idle Air Control (IAC) valve, EVAP canister purge valve and EVAP canister shutoff solenoid valve. ECM pin 31, which is grounded, controls the main relay. As soon as ECM receives impulses from Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor, ECM operates main relay. It will remain active for about 6 seconds after ignition has been turned OFF, to supply power to IDM for spark plug burn off process. If ignition has been turned OFF for more than 15 minutes, main relay will operate for 6 seconds after ignition is turned ON.
