Operation



The oil pressure sensor reads engine oil pressure and illuminates a dash mounted light when pressure drops below a specified pressure.

Removal & Installation



2.0L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions.
  2.  
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle securely.
  4.  
  5. Remove the lower engine cover.
  6.  
  7. Unplug the sensor connector.
  8.  
  9. Place a receptacle under the engine and remove the engine oil pressure sensor.

To install:

  1. Install a new seal on the engine oil pressure sensor and tighten to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Plug in the sensor connector.
  4.  
  5. Fit the lower engine cover and Lower the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Check the oil level. Top up if necessary.
  8.  

2.3L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions.
  2.  
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle securely, as required.
  4.  
  5. Remove the engine cover.
  6.  
  7. Unplug the pressure sensor connector.
  8.  
  9. Remove the pressure sensor.

To install:

  1. Install the pressure sensor using a new seal. Tighten to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Plug in the pressure sensor connector.
  4.  
  5. Install the lower engine cover.
  6.  
  7. Check the oil level and correct as necessary.
  8.  

Testing



Specific to:

Saab 9000 1998

Saab 9-3 1999-2005

Saab 9-5 1999-2005

  1. Inspect the sensor. If the diaphragm is cracked or there is oil leakage within the sensor, the oil pressure sensor must be replaced.
  2.  
  3. Remove the sensor and install a mechanic oil pressure gauge in the port.
  4.  
  5. Start the engine and determine oil pressure.
  6.  
  7. If pressure is within specification, replace the sensor.
