The belt driven power steering pump/reservoir is located at the from of the engine. To check the level, as recommended at oil change intervals, proceed as follows:

  1. Wipe off the cap and surrounding area, after stopping the engine with the wheels straight.
  2.  


CAUTION
Very small dirt particles can cause trouble in any hydraulic system.

  1. Remove the cap.
  2.  
  3. If the cap has a dipstick, wipe it off with a clean rag, replace the cap, wait ten seconds, and take a reading. The level should be at FULL.
  4.  
  5. If you didn't get a dipstick, the level should be 1" below the top.
  6.  
  7. The correct fluid is DEXRON®II or AMC Automatic Transmission Fluid.
