REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Front Door



GREMLIN, HORNET, SPIRIT, CONCORD, AMX, PACER AND EAGLE

  1. Remove the inner glass weatherstripping.
  2.  
  3. Remove the door panel and water dam.
  4.  
  5. Position the glass so that the screws are visible through the upper access holes in the door panel.
  6.  
  7. Using masking tape, tape the glass to the top of the window frame to keep it from falling.
  8.  
  9. Remove the front screw and wave washer.
  10.  
  11. Remove the rear screws.
  12.  
  13. Hold the glass, remove the tape and roll the regulator all the way down.
  14.  
  15. Lower the glass, tilt it towards the hinge side of the door and pull it out.
  16.  
  17. Installation is the reverse of removal. When installing the glass, keep it towards the outside of the frame. Tighten the screws to 40 in. lbs.

  1. Remove the inner glass weatherstripping.
  2.  
  3. Remove the door panel and water dam.
  4.  
  5. Loosen the door glass retaining brackets.
  6.  
  7. Remove the up-stops from the window.
  8.  
  9. Support the glass and remove the nuts attaching the glass to the guide plate.
  10.  
  11. Lift the glass out of the door.
  12.  
  13. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten all fasteners to 70 in. lbs.
  14.  

MATADOR SEDAN AND WAGON

  1. Remove the door trim panel and water dam.
  2.  
  3. Raise the glass to about 1 in. from the top of the frame.
  4.  
  5. Tape the glass to the top of the frame to keep it from falling.
  6.  
  7. Remove the regulator.
  8.  
  9. Remove the channel aluminum frame lower adjustable mounting stud nut.
  10.  
  11. Insert a screwdriver through the lower mounting hole and into the stud mounting hole in the bracket.
  12.  
  13. Push the aluminum frame outward to clear the inner door panel.
  14.  
  15. Push the frame rearward to disengage the channel from the glass.
  16.  

During all this pushing and sliding, remember that the channel is aluminum and can be easily deformed!

  1. Remove the tape from the glass.
  2.  
  3. Slide the glass out of the channel and lift it from the door.
  4.  
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque all fasteners to 70 in. lbs.
  6.  

Rear Door

HORNET
  1. Remove the door trim panel and water dam.
  2.  
  3. Position the glass so that the retaining screws are visible and remove them.
  4.  
  5. Push the glass away from the roller guide plate assembly and pull the tang on the plate out of the hole in the lower window channel.
  6.  
  7. Slide the roller guide plate assembly down.
  8.  
  9. Lower the glass to the stop.
  10.  
  11. Tilt the glass towards the latch side of the door and disconnect the regulator arm roller from the glass bottom channel.
  12.  
  13. Pull the glass straight up and out of the door.
  14.  
  15. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the fasteners to 40 in. lbs.
  16.

  1. Remove the door trim panel and water dam.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rubber seal from the frame.
  4.  
  5. Roll the glass up all the way and slide it towards the hinge side to disconnect the rear regulator arm.
  6.  
  7. Raise and tilt the rear of the glass rearwards to disconnect the front arm.
  8.  
  9. Remove the glass.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the fasteners to 90 in.lb.
  12.
