Trouble Code: P1381

Camshaft Position Sensor 1 No Signal

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine cranking or running; and the PCM did not detect any signals from the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor 1 during the CCM test. Note: The engine will start and run without the CMP sensor 1 signal.

Possible Causes:



CMP signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
CMP pickup assembly or CMP sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1382

Camshaft Position Sensor 1 No Signal

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine cranking or running; and the PCM did not detect any signals from the Camshaft Position 1 (CMP) sensor during the CCM test. Note: The engine will start and run without the CMP sensor signal.

Possible Causes:



CMP1 signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
CMP1 pickup unit or the CMP sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1386

Camshaft Position Sensor 2 Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running and the PCM detected an unexpected or intermittent interruption of the Camshaft Position 2 (CMP) sensor signal.

Possible Causes:



CMP2 signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
CMP2 signal circuit is shorted to VREF or system power
 
CMP2 pickup unit or the CMP sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1387

Camshaft Position Sensor 2 No Signal

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine cranking or running; and the PCM did not detect any signals from the Camshaft Position 2 (CMP) sensor during the CCM test. Note: The engine will start and run without the CMP sensor signal.

Possible Causes:



CMP2 signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
CMP2 pickup unit is damaged or has failed
 
CMP2 sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1456

EVAP System Leak Detected (Fuel Tank Area)

Trouble Code Conditions: IAT sensor signal from 32-86ºF at startup, vehicle driven at over 5 mph for over 2 minutes, ECT sensor signal over 154ºF, then with the EVAP Control and Vent solenoids "on", the PCM detected the fuel tank pressure was incorrect due to a leak in the fuel tank area.

Possible Causes:



Fuel tank cap damaged, loose or the wrong part number
 
Fuel tank leaks at the fuel fill pipe or at the fuel tank seals
 
Fuel vapor control valve is damaged or has failed
 
Fuel tank vapor recirculation valve or vapor tube is damaged
 
Fuel tank vapor control vent tube is damaged or has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1457

EVAP System Leak Detected (Canister Area)

Trouble Code Conditions: Cold startup completed (IAT sensor signal from 32-86ºF at engine startup), vehicle driven at over 5 mph for over 2 minutes, then with ECT sensor signal more than 154ºF and the EVAP Control and Vent solenoids enabled, the PCM detected the fuel tank pressure was incorrect due to a leak in the canister area during the Leak Test.

Possible Causes:



EVAP canister is leaking, damaged or full of water
 
EVAP canister purge line is loose, damaged or blocked
 
EVAP two-way valve or ORVR vent shut valve is damaged
 
EVAP fuel tank vapor control valve is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 
TSB 03-001 (1/27/03) contains a repair procedure for this code
 

Trouble Code: P1486

Cooling System Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: DTC P0107, P0108, P0112, P0113, P0116, P0117, P0118, P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0335, P0336, P0401, P0500, P0505, P1106, P1107, P1108, P1128, P1129, P1253, P1257, P1258, P1259, P1359, P1399, P1491, P1498 and P1519 not set, vehicle driven for over 10 minutes, and the PCM detected the ECT signal did not reach the correct closed loop value.

Possible Causes:



ECT sensor is out of calibration
 
Check for low coolant level or incorrect coolant mixture
 
Cooling system component failure (thermostat stuck open)
 

Trouble Code: P1491

EGR Valve Lift Sensor Insufficient Flow Detected

Trouble Code Conditions: Vehicle driven in closed loop at 1700-2500 rpm for over 10 minutes, and the PCM detected the EGR valve lift sensor (EGRV) signal indicated insufficient EGR flow during the EGR Monitor test.

Possible Causes:



EGR valve lift sensor is stuck, damaged or has failed
 
EGR control solenoid circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
EGR control solenoid valve is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1498

EGR Valve Lift Sensor High Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running; and the PCM detected the EGR Valve Lift sensor signal was more than an allowable range stored in memory.

Possible Causes:



EGR valve lift sensor circuit is open or shorted to power
 
EGR valve lift sensor is shorted to VREF or system power (B+)
 
EGR valve lift sensor is stuck, damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1607

PCM Internal Circuit 'A' Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on, and the PCM detected an Internal Fault 'A' condition. Note: This trouble code indicates an internal failure in the PCM. The OEM repair procedure recommends replacing the original PCM with a "known good" PCM and then verify the code does not reset.

Possible Causes:



PCM is damaged or has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1608

PCM Internal Circuit 'B' Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on, and the PCM detected an Internal Fault 'B' condition. Note: This trouble code indicates an internal failure in the PCM. The OEM repair procedure recommends replacing the original PCM with a "known good" PCM and then verify the code does not reset.

Possible Causes:
