Trouble Code: P0330

Knock Sensor 2 Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, engine running for 1 minute, and the PCM detected an unexpected voltage condition on the Bank2 Knock Sensor circuit.

Possible Causes:



Knock sensor signal circuit is open (front bank of engine)
 
Knock sensor signal circuit is grounded (front bank of engine)
 
Knock sensor not tightened properly
 
Knock sensor damaged or has failed (it may be open internally)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0335

CKP Sensor 1 Circuit Malfunction (No Signal)

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine cranking or running; and the PCM did not detect any signals from the Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor 1 during the test. Note: The engine will crank for a longer period of time, may buck or jerk, but it will start and run without the CKP sensor signal present.

Possible Causes:



CKP1 sensor signal circuit is open
 
CKP1 sensor is shorted to ground
 
CKP1 sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0336

CKP Sensor 1 Circuit Intermittent Signal

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, and the PCM detected the CKP Sensor 1 signal was interrupted during the CCM test. Note: This trouble code is usually caused by an intermittent fault.

Possible Causes:



CKP1 sensor signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
CKP1 sensor is damaged or has failed
 
Engine timing belt has a skipped teeth condition
 
PCM has failed

Camshaft Position Sensor (TDC) 'A' Circuit Intermittent

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, CKP sensor signals received, and the PCM detected an intermittent loss of the CMP sensor 'A' signal during the CCM test.

Possible Causes:



CMP sensor signal 'A' circuit is open (intermittent fault)
 
CMP sensor signal 'A' circuit is shorted to ground (Intermittent)
 
CMP sensor 'A' is damaged or has failed (intermittent fault)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0341

Camshaft Position Sensor (TDC) 'A' Circuit No Signal

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, CKP sensor signals received, and the PCM detected a loss of the CMP sensor 'A' signal during the CCM test.

Possible Causes:



CMP sensor signal 'A' circuit is open
 
CMP sensor signal 'A' circuit is shorted to ground
 
CMP sensor 'A' is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed

Camshaft Position Sensor (TDC) 'B' Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, CKP sensor signals received, and the PCM detected an intermittent loss of the CMP sensor 'B' signal during the CCM test.

CMP sensor signal 'B' circuit is open
 
CMP sensor signal 'B' circuit is shorted to ground
 
CMP sensor 'B' is damaged or has failed

Camshaft Position Sensor (TDC) 'B' Circuit Intermittent Signal

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, CKP sensor signals received, and the PCM detected a loss of the CMP sensor 'B' signal during the CCM test.

Camshaft Position Sensor 'B' Circuit Range/Performance

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, CKP sensor signals received, and the PCM detected an intermittent loss of the CMP sensor 'B' signal during the CCM test.

Possible Causes:



CMP sensor signal 'B' circuit is open (intermittent fault)
 
CMP sensor signal 'B' circuit is shorted to ground (Intermittent)
 
CMP sensor 'B' is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0401

EGR System Insufficient Flow Detected

Trouble Code Conditions: Cold engine startup (ECT sensor less than 76ºF at startup), engine running in closed loop at 40-55 mph for 2 minutes in high gear followed by a deceleration period back to 35 mph with the throttle closed, and the PCM detected a signal from the EGR position sensor that indicated insufficient EGR flow during the test.

Possible Causes:



EGR valve source vacuum supply line open or restricted
 
EGR exhaust manifold passages are clogged or restricted
 
EGR valve assembly or solenoid valve damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0420

Catalyst Efficiency Below Thresholds (Bank 1)

Trouble Code Conditions: DTC P0137, P0138, P0139, P0141, P0157, P0158, P0159 and P0161 not set, vehicle driven to a speed of 40-55 mph for 2 minutes in closed loop, followed by a deceleration period to 35 mph with the throttle closed, and the PCM detected excessive activity in the Catalyst oxygen sensor (Bank 1) during the Catalyst Monitor test.

Possible Causes:



Air leaks in at the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipes
 
Catalytic converter damaged or has failed (deteriorated)
 
Front HO2S is more aged than the rear HO2S (HO2S is lazy)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0430

Catalyst Efficiency Below Thresholds (Bank 2)

Trouble Code Conditions: DTC P0155 and P0161 not set, engine started, vehicle driven in closed loop at 40-55 mph for 2 minutes, followed by a deceleration period to 35 mph with the throttle closed, and the PCM detected excessive activity in the rear HO2S-22 in the Catalyst Monitor test.

Possible Causes:



Air leaks in at the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipes
 
Catalytic converter is damaged or has failed (deteriorated)
 
Front HO2S is more aged than the rear HO2S (HO2S is lazy)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0451

Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Range/Performance

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, and the PCM detected the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor signal was less than the allowable range stored in the PCM memory (a calibrated range adjusted to current conditions). Note: The FTP sensor PID should be near 2.5v with the fuel cap off.

Possible Causes:



FTP sensor vacuum lines loose, damaged or disconnected
 
Fuel tank pressure sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0452

Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running; and the PCM detected the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor signal was less than 0.16v during the test. Note: The FTP sensor PID should be near 2.5v with the fuel cap off.

Possible Causes:



FTP sensor signal circuit is shorted to ground
 
FTP sensor vacuum lines loose, damaged or disconnected
 
Fuel tank pressure sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0453

Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running; and the PCM detected the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor signal was more than 4.90v during the test. Note: The FTP sensor PID should be near 2.5v with the fuel cap off.

Possible Causes:



FTP sensor signal circuit is shorted to VREF or power (B+)
 
FTP sensor ground circuit is open
 
Fuel tank pressure sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0500

Vehicle Speed Sensor Circuit Low Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, then accelerated to 4000 rpm in 2nd gear, followed by a deceleration period to 1500 rpm with the throttle closed, and the PCM did not detect any VSS signals during the CCM test. Note: The VSS signal should pulse from 0-5v as the vehicle moves.

Possible Causes:



VSS signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
VSS signal circuit is shorted to VREF or system power (B+)
 
VSS is damaged or has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0505

Idle Speed Control System

Trouble Code Conditions: DTC P1519 not set, engine started, engine running at hot idle, and the PCM detected the Actual idle speed and the Target idle speed were too far apart during the CCM Rationality test.

Possible Causes:



IAC valve circuit open, shorted to ground or shorted to power
 
IAC valve is damaged or has failed
 
Throttle body is dirty or full of sludge
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0560

PCM Backup Circuit Low Voltage

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running; and the PCM detected a low voltage condition on the PCM Backup circuit. Note: This circuit is connected to the Backup/Radio 7.5 amp fuse.

Possible Causes:



PCM backup circuit is open
 
PCM backup circuit is shorted to ground
 
PCM backup circuit has high resistance
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0748

A/T Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid 'A' Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, vehicle driven at cruise speed, and the PCM detected an unexpected voltage condition on the A/T Clutch Pressure control solenoid 'A' circuit during the CCM test period.

Possible Causes:



Clutch pressure control solenoid 'A' circuit is shorted to ground
 
Clutch pressure control solenoid 'A' is damaged or has failed
 
Clear codes and recheck for this trouble code. If it resets, update the PCM to the latest software. Then recheck for the same trouble code. If it resets, substitute a known good PCM to determine if the PCM has failed and is causing the code.
 

Trouble Code: P1121

TP Sensor Signal Lower Than Expected

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, and the PCM detected the TP sensor was lower than the expected value with the throttle wide open (i.e., the Scan Tool reads less than 14.1% under these conditions) during the CCM Rationality Test.

Possible Causes:



TP sensor signal circuit is shorted to ground between the PCM and the TCM
 
TP sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1122

TP Sensor Signal Higher Than Expected

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, and the PCM detected the TP sensor was more than the expected value with the throttle wide open (i.e., the Scan Tool reads more than 16.5% under these conditions) during the CCM Rationality Test.

Possible Causes:



TP sensor signal circuit is open or shorted to VREF between the PCM and the TCM
 
TP sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1128

MAP Sensor Signal Less Than Expected

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, engine running at cruise speed and then back to idle speed, and the PCM detected a MAP sensor signal was less than the expected value during the CCM Rationality Test.

Possible Causes:



MAP sensor signal circuit shorted to ground (intermittent fault)
 
MAP sensor vacuum line bent or plugged at intake manifold
 
MAP sensor is damaged or it is out-of-calibration
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1129

MAP Sensor Value Higher Than Expected

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, engine running at cruise speed and then back to idle speed, and the PCM detected a MAP sensor signal was higher than the expected value during the CCM Rationality Test.

Possible Causes:



Check for signs of a vacuum leak at the PCV valve or hose, the engine mount vacuum hose, brake booster and throttle body
 
MAP sensor signal circuit shorted to VREF (intermittent fault)
 
MAP sensor is damaged or it is out-of-calibration
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1201

Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine runtime 10 seconds, engine under positive load conditions, and the PCM detected a random misfire condition in one cylinder during the 200 (Catalyst) or 1000 revolution (Emission) test range. Note: If the misfire is severe, the MIL will flash on/off on the 1st trip!

Possible Causes:



Air leaks (intake) or exhaust leaks affecting only one cylinder
 
Base engine (compression) problem affecting only one cylinder
 
Fuel metering (fuel injector dirty) problem affecting one cylinder
 
Ignition system (spark plug or wire) fault affecting one cylinder

Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected

Throttle valve control motor 1 circuit open or shorted to ground
 
Throttle valve control motor 1 circuit is shorted to system power
 
Throttle valve control motor 1 is damaged or has failed

Throttle Valve Control Motor 2 Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, and the PCM detected an unexpected voltage condition on the Throttle Valve Control Motor 2 circuit. Note: This throttle valve is part of the NSX Drive by Wire system.

Possible Causes:



Throttle valve control motor 2 circuit open or shorted to ground
 
Throttle valve control motor 2 circuit is shorted to system power
 
Throttle valve control motor 2 is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1243

Throttle Position Insufficient

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running at road load, with at least one wide-open throttle event, and the PCM detected an insufficient throttle position value.

Possible Causes:



Throttle valve is stuck, damaged or has failed
 
TP sensor is damaged or has failed
 
Throttle valve control motor is damaged or has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1244

Insufficient Closed Throttle Position Detected

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running at road load, with at least one wide-open throttle event, and the PCM detected insufficient closed throttle position.

Possible Causes:



Throttle valve is stuck, damaged or has failed
 
TP sensor is damaged or has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1246

Accelerator Position Sensor 1 Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running; and the PCM detected an unexpected voltage condition on the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor 1 circuit.

Possible Causes:



APP sensor 1 signal circuit is open
 
APP sensor 1 signal circuit is shorted to ground
 
APP sensor 1 signal circuit shorted to VREF or system power
 
APP sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed

Accelerator Position Sensor 2 Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running; and the PCM detected an unexpected voltage condition on the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor 2 circuit.

Possible Causes:



APP sensor 2 signal circuit is open
 
APP sensor 2 signal circuit is shorted to ground
 
APP sensor 2 signal circuit shorted to VREF or system power
 
APP sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1248

Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Correlation

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running; and the PCM detected the correlation between the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor 1 and 2 signals were incorrect or not plausible.

Possible Causes:



APP sensor is damaged or has failed
 
APP sensor 2 is damaged or has failed
 
Throttle plate or linkage is jammed or bent
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1259

VTEC System Malfunction (Bank 1)

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running in closed loop, then accelerated in 1st gear to over 6000 rpm for 2 seconds, and the PCM detected a fault in the VTEC front solenoid or the VTEC pressure switch during the CCM test.

VTEC front solenoid control circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
VTEC front solenoid is damaged or has failed
 
VTEC front pressure switch circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
VTEC front pressure switch is damaged or has failed

VTEC System Malfunction (Bank 2)

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running in closed loop, then accelerated in 1st gear to over 6000 rpm for 2 seconds, and the PCM detected a fault in the VTEC rear solenoid or the VTEC rear pressure switch during the CCM test.

Possible Causes:



VTEC rear solenoid control circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
VTEC rear solenoid is damaged or has failed
 
VTEC rear pressure switch circuit is open or shorted to ground

Random Misfire Detected

Trouble Code Conditions: DTC P0107, P0108, P0131, P0132, P0171, P0172, P1128, P0335, P0336, P0505, P1128, P1129, P1259, P1361, P1362, P1366, P1367 and P1519 not set, engine running under positive torque conditions, and the PCM detected a misfire in 2 or more cylinders. Note: If the misfire is severe, the MIL will flash on/off on the 1st trip!

CKP or CMP sensor signal erratic or intermittent
 
Fuel system problem affecting more than one cylinder

Trouble Code Conditions: DTC P0107, P0108, P0131, P0132, P0171, P0172, P1128, P0335, P0336, P0505, P1128, P1129, P1259, P1361, P1362, P1366, P1367 and P1519 not set, engine running under positive torque conditions, and the PCM detected a misfire condition in one cylinder. Note: If the misfire is severe, the MIL will flash on/off on the 1st trip!
