  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following: Negative battery cableExhaust manifold coverFront exhaust pipe from the manifoldExhaust manifold support bracketExhaust manifold from the engineRear cover from the exhaust manifold (if necessary)

    Negative battery cable
     
    Exhaust manifold cover
     
    Front exhaust pipe from the manifold
     
    Exhaust manifold support bracket
     
    Exhaust manifold from the engine
     
    Rear cover from the exhaust manifold (if necessary)
     

  4.  

To install:


NOTE
Use new exhaust manifold nuts for installation.

  1. Install or connect the following: Rear heat shield bolts: 17 ft. lbs. (24 Nm)Exhaust manifold nuts: 23 ft. lbs. (31 Nm)Bracket bolts: 33 ft. lbs. (44 Nm)Front exhaust pipe nuts: 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm)Exhaust manifold heat shield bolts: 17 ft. lbs. (24 Nm)

    Rear heat shield bolts: 17 ft. lbs. (24 Nm)
     
    Exhaust manifold nuts: 23 ft. lbs. (31 Nm)
     
    Bracket bolts: 33 ft. lbs. (44 Nm)
     
    Front exhaust pipe nuts: 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm)
     
    Exhaust manifold heat shield bolts: 17 ft. lbs. (24 Nm)
     

  2.  

2.0L Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following: VTEC solenoid valveIntermediate shaft coverCover and exhaust manifold bracketMounting nuts and bolts and exhaust manifold. Discard the gasket.

    VTEC solenoid valve
     
    Intermediate shaft cover
     
    Cover and exhaust manifold bracket
     
    Mounting nuts and bolts and exhaust manifold. Discard the gasket.
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following: Exhaust manifold with a new gasket. Tighten the retainers to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm), in a criss-cross pattern starting at the inner bolt.Cover and exhaust manifold bracketIntermediate shaft coverVTEC solenoid valve

    Exhaust manifold with a new gasket. Tighten the retainers to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm), in a criss-cross pattern starting at the inner bolt.
     
    Cover and exhaust manifold bracket
     
    Intermediate shaft cover
     
    VTEC solenoid valve

3.2L And 3.5L Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.

  3. Remove or disconnect the following: Negative battery cableExhaust manifold coversSmall heat shields from the cylinder heads (if equipped)Exhaust pipe from the manifoldHeated Oxygen (HO2S) sensorsExhaust manifold nuts in a crisscross pattern starting from the center of the manifoldExhaust manifold

    Negative battery cable
     
    Exhaust manifold covers
     
    Small heat shields from the cylinder heads (if equipped)
     
    Exhaust pipe from the manifold
     
    Heated Oxygen (HO2S) sensors
     
    Exhaust manifold nuts in a crisscross pattern starting from the center of the manifold
     
    Exhaust manifold
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following: Exhaust manifold with a new gasket and new nuts and tighten the nuts in a crisscross pattern starting from the center to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm)Small heat shields and tighten the attaching bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm) (if equipped)Exhaust pipe to the manifold with a new gasket and tighten the nuts to 40 ft. lbs. (55 Nm)HO2S sensor and tighten it to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm)Manifold covers and tighten the bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm)

    Exhaust manifold with a new gasket and new nuts and tighten the nuts in a crisscross pattern starting from the center to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm)
     
    Small heat shields and tighten the attaching bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm) (if equipped)
     
    Exhaust pipe to the manifold with a new gasket and tighten the nuts to 40 ft. lbs. (55 Nm)
     
    HO2S sensor and tighten it to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm)
     
    Manifold covers and tighten the bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm)
     

  2.  
  3. Verify that all vacuum lines and wiring are properly connected.
  4.  
  5. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  8.  

CL Models
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Exhaust manifold covers
     
    Small heat shields from the cylinder heads (if equipped)
     
    Exhaust pipe from the manifold
     
    Heated Oxygen (HO 2 S) sensors
     
    Exhaust manifold nuts in a crisscross pattern starting from the center of the manifold
     
    Exhaust manifold
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Exhaust manifold with a new gasket and new nuts and tighten the nuts in a crisscross pattern starting from the center to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm)
     
    Small heat shields and tighten the attaching bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm) (if equipped)
     
    Exhaust pipe to the manifold with a new gasket and tighten the nuts to 40 ft. lbs. (55 Nm)
     
    HO 2 S sensor and tighten it to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm)
     
    Manifold covers and tighten the bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm)
     

  2.  
  3. Verify that all vacuum lines and wiring are properly connected.
  4.  
  5. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  8.  

Integra Models
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Exhaust manifold cover
     
    Front exhaust pipe from the manifold
     
    Exhaust manifold support bracket
     
    Exhaust manifold from the engine
     
    Rear cover from the exhaust manifold (if necessary)

To install:


NOTE
Use new exhaust manifold nuts for installation.

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Rear heat shield bolts: 17 ft. lbs. (24 Nm)
     
    Exhaust manifold nuts: 23 ft. lbs. (31 Nm)
     
    Bracket bolts: 33 ft. lbs. (44 Nm)
     
    Front exhaust pipe nuts: 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm)
     
    Exhaust manifold heat shield bolts: 17 ft. lbs. (24 Nm)

NSX Models
3.0L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Manifold cover
     
    Exhaust pipe from the manifold to be removed
     
    Mounting nuts and the exhaust manifold
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Exhaust manifold with a new gasket and tighten the nuts to 23 ft. lbs. (31 Nm)
     
    Exhaust pipe to the manifold using a new gasket and tighten the nuts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm)
     
    Manifold cover and tighten the bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm)

3.2L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Exhaust manifold covers
     
    Small heat shields from the cylinder heads (if equipped)
     
    Exhaust pipe from the manifold
     
    Heated Oxygen (HO 2 S) sensors
     
    Exhaust manifold nuts in a crisscross pattern starting from the center of the manifold
     
    Exhaust manifold
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Exhaust manifold with a new gasket and new nuts and tighten the nuts in a crisscross pattern starting from the center to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm)
     
    Small heat shields and tighten the attaching bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm) (if equipped)
     
    Exhaust pipe to the manifold with a new gasket and tighten the nuts to 40 ft. lbs. (55 Nm)
     
    HO 2 S sensor and tighten it to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm)
     
    Manifold covers and tighten the bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm)
     

  2.  
  3. Verify that all vacuum lines and wiring are properly connected.
  4.  
  5. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  8.  

RL Models
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Exhaust manifold covers
     
    Small heat shields from the cylinder heads (if equipped)
     
    Exhaust pipe from the manifold
     
    Heated Oxygen (HO 2 S) sensors
     
    Exhaust manifold nuts in a crisscross pattern starting from the center of the manifold
     
    Exhaust manifold
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Exhaust manifold with a new gasket and new nuts and tighten the nuts in a crisscross pattern starting from the center to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm)
     
    Small heat shields and tighten the attaching bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm) (if equipped)
     
    Exhaust pipe to the manifold with a new gasket and tighten the nuts to 40 ft. lbs. (55 Nm)
     
    HO 2 S sensor and tighten it to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm)
     
    Manifold covers and tighten the bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm)
     

  2.  
  3. Verify that all vacuum lines and wiring are properly connected.
  4.  
  5. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  8.  

RSX Models
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    VTEC solenoid valve
     
    Intermediate shaft cover
     
    Cover and exhaust manifold bracket
     
    Mounting nuts and bolts and exhaust manifold. Discard the gasket.
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Exhaust manifold with a new gasket. Tighten the retainers to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm), in a criss- cross pattern starting at the inner bolt.
     
    Cover and exhaust manifold bracket
     
    Intermediate shaft cover
     
    VTEC solenoid valve
     

  2.  

TL Models
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Exhaust manifold covers
     
    Small heat shields from the cylinder heads (if equipped)
     
    Exhaust pipe from the manifold
     
    Heated Oxygen (HO 2 S) sensors
     
    Exhaust manifold nuts in a crisscross pattern starting from the center of the manifold
     
    Exhaust manifold
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Exhaust manifold with a new gasket and new nuts and tighten the nuts in a crisscross pattern starting from the center to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm)
     
    Small heat shields and tighten the attaching bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm) (if equipped)
     
    Exhaust pipe to the manifold with a new gasket and tighten the nuts to 40 ft. lbs. (55 Nm)
     
    HO 2 S sensor and tighten it to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm)
     
    Manifold covers and tighten the bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm)
     

  2.  
  3. Verify that all vacuum lines and wiring are properly connected.
  4.  
  5. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  8.  

TSX Models
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    VTEC solenoid valve
     
    Driveshaft heat shield
     
    Cover and exhaust manifold bracket
     
    Exhaust manifold
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. Clean the mounting surfaces.
  2.  
  3. Install or connect the following:

    New gasket on the cylinder head
     
    Exhaust manifold. Tighten the nuts, in a criss-cross pattern starting with the inner nut, to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).
     
    Exhaust manifold bracket and cover
     
    Driveshaft heat shield
     
    VTEC solenoid valve
