REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



1986-89 Integra

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Have the refrigerant recovered from the A/C system.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front bumper. Remove the front bulkhead bracket retaining bolts and remove the front bulkhead bracket.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the condenser pipe.
  8.  
  9. Remove the front bulkhead stay retaining bolts and remove the front bulkhead stay.
  10.  
  11. Remove the open wire clip for the stay and condenser pipe clamp.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the condenser line and discharge line from the condenser. Be sure to cap the lines immediately to keep moisture and dirt out of the system.
  14.  
  15. Remove the condenser mounting bolts and lift the condenser up and out of the vehicle.
  16.  

To install:
  1. Install the condenser in the vehicle. Connect the discharge line and affix the clamps and holder for the lines.
  2.  
  3. Install the bulkhead stay. Connect the condenser line. Install the bulkhead bracket.
  4.  
  5. Install the front bumper. Recharge the system.
  6.

  1. Have the refrigerant recovered from the system.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the engine ground strap and remove the radiator reservoir tank. Remove the air intake tube.
  4.  
  5. Remove the refrigerant line brackets and the radiator upper mounting brackets. Disconnect the lines from the condenser and cap the openings.
  6.  
  7. Remove the 2 upper mounting bolts and pull the condenser out from above.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Install the condenser and torque the mounting bolts to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Connect the refrigerant lines and torque the condenser connections to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm) and the receiver connection to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the upper brackets and torque to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm). Install the air intake tube and the radiator reservoir. Connect the engine ground strap.
  6.  
  7. Recharge the system.
  8.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Have the refrigerant discharged and recovered.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front grill and disconnect the refrigerant lines from the condenser. Plug all openings.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 4 condenser mounting bolts. Remove the 6 bolts and 1 nut holding the front bulkhead crossmember. Remove the condenser.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Install the condenser being sure to seat it in the lower rubber mounts. Install the bulkhead and the mounting bolts. Connect the ground strap to the bulkhead.
  2.  
  3. Torque the upper refrigerant fitting to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm) and the lower fitting to 10 ft. lbs. (13.5 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the grill and connect the negative battery terminal. Have the system recharged.
  6.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Have the refrigerant discharged and recovered.
  2.  
  3. Remove the battery and battery tray, air intake duct and the throttle cable cover. Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle drum.
  4.  
  5. Remove the suction hose bolt and the bolt holding suction line A and B together. Remove the receiver/drier fitting bolt and the mounting nuts.
  6.  
  7. Remove the discharge line fitting bolt and the clamp bolt.
  8.  
  9. Remove the condenser mounting bolt holding the relay box. Remove the condenser fan mounting bolts and remove the fan.
  10.  
  11. Remove the condenser mounting brackets and lower mounting nuts. Remove the condenser.
  12.  

To install:
  1. Install new O-rings at all connections. Install the condenser and torque the mounting bracket bolts and lower mounting nuts to 7.5 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the fan and relay box and torque to 7.5 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Connect the discharge line fitting bolt and torque to 21 ft. lbs. (29 Nm). Install the clamp bolt and torque to 7.5 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the receiver drier mounting nuts and the line connection bolt. Torque to 7.5 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the suction line A to B connection bolt and torque to 7.5 ft. lbs. (10 Nm). Install the suction hose fitting bolt and torque to 6.5 ft. lbs. (9 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Connect and install the throttle cables. Install the throttle cable cover, air intake duct, battery tray and battery. Recharge the system.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Have the refrigerant discharged and recovered.
  2.  
  3. Remove the radiator fan and the condenser fan. Remove the upper radiator mounts.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the line to the receiver/drier and remove the 3 mounting bolts. Disconnect the discharge line at the condenser.
  6.  
  7. Remove the condenser mounting nuts and remove the condenser.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Install new O-rings at all connections. Install the condenser and torque the mounting bracket bolts and lower mounting nuts to 7.5 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the discharge line to the condenser. Mount the receiver/drier and torque the bolts to 7.5 ft. lbs. (10 Nm). Connect the line to the receiver/drier.
  4.  
  5. Install the upper radiator mounts and the fans. Torque the bolts to 7.4 ft. lbs. (10 Nm). Recharge the system.
  6.
