ADJUSTMENT

  1. Check that actuator cable operates smoothly with no binding or sticking.
  2.
  3. Start engine and let it warm up to reach normal operating temperature (the cooling fan should come on twice).
  4.
  5. Stop the engine and check the accelerator pedal cable. Make sure it is adjusted so the throttle closes and opens fully.
  6.
  7. With the engine at idle, measure the movement of the output linkage until cable pulls the throttle open (engine speed starts to increase). Free-play should be 0.37-0.49 in. (9.1-12.4mm).
  8.
  9. If free-play is not correct, loosen locknut and turn adjusting nut as required. Retighten locknut and recheck free-play.
  10.
  11. Test the cruise control system to make sure that overshoot and undershoot are held within plus or minus2 mph of set speed.
  12.
