REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Integra

See Figures 1 and 2

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain the cooling system.
  2.
  3. Remove the air duct from the throttle body.
  4.
  5. Remove the intake manifold bracket and the EACV.
  6.
  7. Relieve the fuel system pressure by loosening the service bolt on the fuel filter about 1 turn, then disconnect the fuel supply and return lines from the manifold.
  8.

CAUTION
The fuel system may be under pressure and fuel will be sprayed. Be sure there is good ventilation and take the appropriate fire safety precautions.

  1. Label and remove any electrical connectors running to the intake manifold.
  2.
  3. Remove the intake manifold-to-cylinder head nuts, in a crisscrosss pattern, beginning from the center and moving out to both ends. Remove the manifold and the gasket.
  4.
  5. Clean the gasket mounting surfaces. Inspect the manifold for cracks, flatness and/or damage; replace the parts, if necessary. If the intake manifold is to be replaced, transfer all the necessary components to the new manifold.
  6.

To install:
  1. Use new gaskets and reverse the removal procedures. Torque the nuts/bolts, in a crisscrosss pattern, in 2-3 steps, starting with the inner nuts, to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).
  2.
  3. Start the engine, allow it to reach normal operating temperatures and check for leaks and proper engine operation.
  4.

Legend

See Figures 3 and 4

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain the cooling system.
  2.
  3. Remove the air duct from the throttle body.
  4.
  5. Remove the EACV, the air suction valve and the EGR tube.
  6.
  7. Label and remove any wires running to the intake manifold.
  8.
  9. Relieve the fuel system pressure by loosening the service bolt on the fuel filter about 1 turn, then disconnect the fuel supply and return lines from the manifold.
  10.

CAUTION
The fuel system may be under pressure and fuel will be sprayed. Be sure there is good ventilation and take the appropriate fire safety precautions.

  1. Remove the intake manifold nuts in a crisscrosss pattern, beginning from the center and moving out to both ends and the manifold.
  2.
  3. Clean the gasket mounting surfaces. Inspect the manifold for cracks, flatness and/or damage; replace the parts as necessary. If the intake manifold is to be replaced, transfer all the necessary components to the new manifold.
  4.

To install:
  1. Use new gaskets and reverse the removal procedures. Torque the nuts/bolts, in a crisscrosss pattern in 2-3 steps, starting with the inner nuts. Torque the 8mm bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm) and the 6mm bolts to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
  2.
  3. Start the engine, allow it to reach normal operating temperatures and check for leaks and engine operation.
  4.

Vigor

The radio is equipped with a theft protection program. Be sure the 5 digit security code is available before disconnecting the battery.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.
  3. Remove the fuel filler cap and loosen the service bolt on the fuel filter banjo bolt to relieve the fuel system pressure. Remove the banjo bolt to remove the fuel feed hose from the fuel filter. Remove the fuel return hose from the pressure regulator.
  4.

CAUTION
The fuel system may be under pressure and fuel will be sprayed. Be sure there is good ventilation and take the appropriate fire safety precautions.

  1. Remove the intake air duct and air cleaner assembly.
  2.
  3. Remove the throttle cable by loosening the locknut, then slip the cable end out of the throttle bracket and accelerator linkage. Take care not to bend the cable when removing it. Unbolt the throttle cable clamp and move the cable aside.
  4.
  5. Label and disconnect the vacuum hoses and all wiring from the intake manifold.
  6.
  7. To avoid having to drain the cooling system, remove the Fast Idle Valve and the EACV without disconnecting the coolant hoses and lay them aside. Be careful not to lose the O-rings.
  8.
  9. Remove the EGR pipe and the vacuum pipe.
  10.
  11. Remove the intake manifold brackets.
  12.
  13. Remove the nuts to remove the intake manifold from the engine.
  14.

To install:
  1. Fit the manifold to the engine with a new gasket and torque the nuts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
  2.
  3. Install any components that were removed with new gaskets or O-rings as required. If the fuel injectors were removed, replace the seal rings and cushion rings to prevent noise and leakage.
  4.
  5. Connect the wiring, vacuum hoses and fuel lines.
  6.
  7. Connect and adjust the throttle cable as required.
  8.
  9. Run the engine and check for leaks.
  10.
