REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
See Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4
- Open the trunk lid; have an assistant support it.
- Disconnect the wiring connectors from the latch and lighting units inside the trunk lid. Label or identify each connector to ease reassembly. Tie a long piece of string to the end of the wire harness. Slowly and carefully remove the harness from the trunk lid. Leave the string in place to reroute the harness at reassembly.
- Support the trunk lid (so it doesn't fall and damage the paint). Remove the bolts holding the lid to the hinges. Lift the trunk lid clear of the vehicle.
- Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the bolts just snug until the position of the lid is correctly adjusted.
Once the trunk lid is installed, tighten the bolts just snug. Close the lid and check for perfect seam alignment.
Loosen the hinge bolts and position the trunk lid as necessary, then snug the nuts and recheck. Continue the process until the lid latches smoothly and aligns evenly at all the seams.
The striker may be adjusted in fashion similar to adjusting a door striker. Shims may be added or removed as necessary. It should not be necessary to adjust the latch to align the trunk lid. Tighten the mounting bolts to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs).
