  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle. Remove the front wheels.
  2.  
  3. Remove the brake hose clamp bolt.
  4.  
  5. Place a floor jack beneath the lower control arm to support it.
  6.  
  7. Remove the lower shock-to-steering knuckle bolt and slowly lower the jack.
  8.  

Be sure the jack is positioned securely beneath the lower control arm at the ball joint. Otherwise, the tension from the torsion bar may cause the lower control arm to suddenly jump away from the shock absorber as the pinch bolt is removed.

  1. Compress the shock absorber by hand, remove the upper locknuts and the shock from the vehicle.
  2.  

To install:
  1. Reverse the removal procedures, taking note of the following:
    1. Use new self-locking nuts on the top of the shock assembly and torque to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Torque the lower pinch bolt to 47 ft. lbs. (65 Nm).
    4.  
    5. Install and torque the brake hose clamp to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle and remove the front wheels.
  2.  
  3. Remove the damper pinch bolt.
  4.  
  5. Remove the fork bolt and disengage the fork.
  6.  
  7. Remove the upper mounting nuts and remove the damper unit. Mark the dampers alignment and as left and right so they will not be installed wrong.
  8.  
  9. Compress the spring with a suitable spring compressor. Remove the self-locking nut at the top of the shock. Disassemble the shock and spring assemblies. Note the arrangement of the parts.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Install the components and align the tabs so they form a straight line when both units are installed in the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Installation is the reverse of removal. Use a new self locking nut on the fork bolt and torque to 47 ft. lbs. (65 Nm). Torque the upper mounting nuts to 36 ft. lbs. (50 Nm) and the pinch bolt to 32 ft. lbs. (44 Nm).

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle and remove the front wheels.
  2.  
  3. Remove the brake hose clamps from the damper.
  4.  
  5. Remove the pinch bolt.
  6.  
  7. Remove the fork bolt and remove the fork.
  8.  
  9. Remove the upper mounting nuts and remove the damper. Mark the left and right sides so they will not be installed wrong.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Install the damper with the fork alignment tab facing out and loosely install the upper mount nuts.
  2.  
  3. Install the fork on the lower arm and the damper and loosely install the pinch bolt and fork bolt.
  4.  
  5. Place a floor jack under the lower ball joint and raise it just till the vehicle raises off the jack stand.
  6.  
  7. Torque the fork bolt to 51 ft. lbs. (70 Nm), the pinch bolt to 37 ft. lbs. (51 Nm) and the upper mount nuts to 28 ft. lbs. (39 Nm).
