REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Without Air Conditioning
1986-89 INTEGRA

See Figure 1

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the glove box.
  2.  
  3. Remove the frame to the glove box.
  4.  
  5. Remove the blower duct.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the wire connections from the blower.
  8.  
  9. Remove the screws and remove the blower motor assembly.
  10.  
  11. To install, reverse the removal procedures. Check that there are no air leaks in the blower case.

1990-93 INTEGRA

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the passenger side lower dashboard cover.
  2.  
  3. Remove the glove box assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front console assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the passenger side knee bolster panel, located under the glove box frame.
  8.  
  9. Remove the self tapping screws and remove the heater duct assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove the heater blower motor mounting bolts.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the blower motor, resistor and recirculation control motor. Remove the blower motor from the blower motor housing.
  14.  

To install:
  1. Connect the wiring and install the blower motor.
  2.  
  3. When reattaching the actuator, make sure its positioning will not allow the air door to be pulled to far.
  4.  
  5. Attach the actuator and all linkage, connect the battery and operate the system to watch the door movement. If necessary, loosen the holding screw and move the actuator up or down.
  6.  
  7. When adjusting the control rod, connect the recirculation control motor connection to the main wire harness, push RECIRC and open the air doors. Then connect the control rod to the arm while holding the air doors open.
  8.  
  9. When all adjustments are completed, disconnect the battery again and complete the dashboard assembly.
  10.  

With Air Conditioning
1986-89 INTEGRA

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the glove box.
  2.  
  3. Remove the frame to the glove box and the side frame.
  4.  
  5. Remove the bolts and the retractor control unit with the bracket.
  6.  
  7. Remove the center console box and the bracket.
  8.  
  9. Unbolt the dashboard lower center bracket and insert a small prybar to pry a 12-15mm clearance, to ease in the removal of the evaporator.
  10.  
  11. Loosen the right side sealing band.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the wire connections from the blower.
  14.  
  15. Remove the blower bolts and the blower assembly.
  16.  

To install:
  1. Install the blower assembly and connect the wiring. Make sure all wiring is secure and temporarily connect the battery to test the blower. Make sure there are no air leaks in the housing.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the battery again to complete assembly of the dashboard.
  4.  

1990-93 INTEGRA
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Properly discharge the refrigerant from the air conditioning system into recovery equipment. Disconnect the receiver line and suction hose from the evaporator assembly. Be sure to cap the open fitting to prevent moisture from entering the system.
  4.  
  5. Remove the passenger side lower dashboard cover.
  6.  
  7. Remove the glove box assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove the front console assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove the passenger side knee bolster panel, located under the glove box frame.
  12.  
  13. Remove the 2 self tapping screws and the air conditioning bands from around the evaporator assembly.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the wire connector from the thermostat switch and pull off the wire harness from the clamps. Remove the evaporator.
  16.  
  17. Remove the self tapping screws and remove the heater duct assembly.
  18.  
  19. Remove the heater blower motor mounting bolts.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the blower motor, resistor and recirculation control motor. Remove the blower motor from the blower motor housing.
  22.  

To install:
  1. Reverse the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. When reattaching the actuator, make sure its positioning will not allow the air door to pulled to far.
  4.  
  5. Attach the actuator and all linkage, then apply battery voltage and watch the door movement. If necessary, loosen the holding screw and move the actuator up or down.
  6.  
  7. When adjusting the control rod, connect the recirculation control motor connection to the main wire harness, push RECIRC and open the air doors. Then connect the control rod to the arm while holding the air doors open.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  3. Remove the glove box lower cover screws and the cover.
  4.  
  5. Remove the glove box screws and the glove box.
  6.  
  7. Remove the glove box frame screws, the glove box frame, the clips and the heater duct.
  8.  
  9. Properly discharge the refrigerant from the air conditioning system into recovery equipment.
  10.  
  11. Remove the evaporator as follows:
    1. Disconnect the receiver line and suction hose from the evaporator assembly.
    2.  
    3. Be sure to cap the open fitting to prevent moisture from entering the system.
    4.  
    5. Remove the self-tapping screws and the air conditioning bands from around the evaporator assembly.
    6.  
    7. Disconnect the wire connector from the thermostat switch and pull off the wire harness from the clamps.
    8.  
    9. Remove the evaporator.
    10.

  13. Disconnect the wire connectors from the blower.
  14.  
  15. Remove the blower assembly bolts and the assembly.
  16.  

To install:
  1. Install the blower into the case and connect the wiring. Make sure all wiring is secure and temporarily connect the battery to test the blower and adjust the linkage. Check that there are no air leaks in the blower case.
  2.  
  3. When reattaching the actuator, make sure its positioning will not allow the air door to be pulled too far.
  4.  
  5. Attach the actuator and all linkage, then apply battery voltage and watch the door movement. If necessary, loosen the holding screw and move the actuator up or down.
  6.  
  7. When adjusting the control rod, connect the recirculation control motor connection to the main wire harness, push the FRESH/RECIRC switch to FRESH and open the air doors. Then connect the control rod to the arm while holding the air doors open.
  8.  
  9. After properly adjusting the linkage, disconnect the battery to complete the dashboard assembly.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the right side lower dashboard panel and unplug the connector.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the glove box light and remove the glove box.
  6.  
  7. Remove both dashboard end caps.
  8.  
  9. Remove the glove box frame.
  10.  
  11. Unplug the connectors, remove the screws and remove the blower assembly.
  12.  
  13. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure there are no air leaks in the system.

  1. Remove the heater/evaporator assembly.
  2.  
  3. Remove the heater core and the door control motor.
  4.  
  5. Remove the screw to remove the left side air duct.
  6.  
  7. Remove the screws and clips to split the housing. Remove the screws to remove the motor from the lower housing.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to connect the hose to the motor when assembling the housing.
