  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the screws and instrument panel face plate from the dashboard.
  2.  
  3. Remove the right and left switches from the instrument panel then disconnect the wire connectors from the switches.
  4.  
  5. Remove the upper instrument panel caps to access the screws, then remove the panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the screws under the holes made by removing the switches.
  8.  
  9. Remove the rubber seal, loosen the column cover screws and the instrument panel.
  10.  
  11. Remove the gauge assembly screws and lift out the gauge assembly to disconnect the wire connectors.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the speedometer cable and remove the gauge assembly.
  14.  

To install:
  1. Install the gauge assembly and connect the speedometer cable and wires.
  2.  
  3. Carefully fit the assembly into place and install the screws.
  4.  
  5. Install the remaining parts and connect the wiring for the switches. Connect the battery and test the switches.
  6.

  1. Remove the screws and instrument panel from the dashboard and disconnect the switches.
  2.  
  3. Remove the 4 screws to remove the gauge assembly enough to disconnect the wiring and speedometer cable.
  4.  
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  6.

This vehicle may be equipped with an air bag system. It is not necessary to remove the air bag assembly in order to remove the instrument panel, but the system should be disarmed before starting work.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the 2 screws under the switch pods and 2 screws in front of the gauge panel.
  2.  
  3. Pull the instrument panel straight out and disconnect the wire harness.
  4.  
  5. Remove the gauge assembly screws and lift out the gauge assembly to disconnect the wire connectors. Disconnect the speedometer cable and remove the gauge assembly.
  6.  
  7. Once the instrument cluster or panel is removed the speedometer may be removed from the back of the instrument cluster by removing the retaining screws and then removing the speedometer assembly. On some vehicles there may be an electric motor attached to the rear of the speedometer. This can be removed separately or as a complete unit.
  8.  

To install:
  1. When installing the cluster, be careful to properly connect and route the wiring and speedometer cable.
  2.  
  3. Set the cluster in place and install the screws.
  4.

This vehicle is equipped with an air bag system. It is not necessary to remove the air bag assembly in order to remove the instrument panel, but the system should be disarmed before starting work. Read the precautions and procedure at the beginning of this Section.

  1. Disconnect the battery cables and remove the lower dashboard panel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the upper and lower steering column covers.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 2 screws, unplug the switch connectors and remove the instrument panel.
  6.  
  7. Place a clean rag over the combination switch to prevent scratching the gauge assembly. Remove the 4 screws and lay the gauge assembly face down on the steering column.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the wiring and rotate the gauge assembly out towards the right.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Fit the gauge assembly in place and connect the wiring. When installing the assembly, make sure the wiring is not pinched.
  2.  
  3. Install the switches and steering column covers. Connect the battery.
  4.

  1. Disconnect the battery cables. Remove the lower left dashboard panel and both steering column covers.
  2.  
  3. Carefully pry out the switches at the bottom of the instrument panel and disconnect the wiring.
  4.  
  5. Lay a clean cloth over the steering column and remove the 2 screws accessible through the switch openings.
  6.  
  7. Remove the 2 upper screws from the instrument panel and lay the panel on the cloth to disconnect the wiring.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal. Connect the wiring and test the instruments before installing all the covers.
