REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Integra and Legend



  1. With the vehicle on the ground, remove the hub grease cap and pry the spindle nut lock tab away from the spindle. Loosen the nut.
  2.  
  3. Be sure the emergency brake is disengaged.
  4.  
  5. Raise and safely support the vehicle and remove the rear wheels.
  6.  
  7. Remove the brake hose mounting bolt from the knuckle.
  8.  
  9. Remove the caliper with the brake hose connected, and hang it out of the way with wire.
  10.  
  11. Remove the caliper bracket.
  12.  
  13. Remove the two brake disc retaining screws, and remove the disc by pressing it off with a pair of 8mm bolts threaded into the holes between the studs. Turn each bolt 2 turns at a time.
  14.  
  15. Remove the spindle nut and remove the hub assembly from the knuckle. The bearing is part of the hub and the assembly is replaced as one piece.
  16.  
  17. Be sure to wash the bearing and spindle thoroughly in solvent before reassembly.
  18.  

To install:
  1. Install the hub and bearing assembly onto the spindle and install the spindle nut. Hand-tighten the spindle nut; do not final tighten it until the vehicle is on the ground.
  2.  
  3. Install the brake disc and tighten the disc retaining screws to 84 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the caliper mounting bracket and tighten the bolts to 28 ft. lbs. (39 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the brake caliper and the brake hose mounting bolts. Tighten the mounting bolts to 28 ft. lbs. (38 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the brake hose mounting bolt, tighten the bolt to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
  10.  
  11. If applicable, install the brake caliper shield. Tighten the mounting bolts to 84 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Tighten the brake disc retaining screws to 84 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  14.  
  15. Install the rear wheels and lower the vehicle to the ground.
  16.  
  17. Install a new hub nut and tighten the nut to 134 ft. lbs. (181 Nm) for the Integra, or to 206 ft. lbs. (285 Nm) for the Legend. Stake the spindle nut, and install the grease cap.
  18.  

2.2CL, 2.3CL and 3.0CL

  1. Remove the rear wheel and tire assemblies.
  2.  
  3. Apply the parking brake.
  4.  
  5. Remove the grease cap the covers the spindle nut.
  6.  
  7. Raise the locking tab on the nut and remove it from the spindle.
  8.  
  9. Release the parking brake.
  10.  
  11. Remove the bolts securing the brake hose bracket.
  12.  
  13. Remove the brake caliper and hang it out of the way with wire or string.
  14.  
  15. Remove the brake rotor retaining screws. Install two 8 x 1.25mm bolts into the brake rotor. Tighten each screw two turns at a time to push the rotor off the hub.
  16.  
  17. Remove the hub/bearing unit from the spindle.
  18.  

To install:
  1. Install a new hub/bearing unit on the spindle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the two 8 x 1.25mm bolts and install the brake rotor on the hub/bearing. Tighten the two 6mm screws to 84 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the spindle washer and a new nut on the spindle. Tighten the nut to 134 ft. lbs. (181 Nm) on the 2.2CL and 3.0CL or to 181 ft. lbs. (245 Nm) on the 2.3CL. Stake the nut to the spindle.
  6.  
  7. Install the brake caliper and hose bracket.
  8.  
  9. Install the rear wheel. Tighten the nuts to 80 ft. lbs. (108 Nm).
  10.  

2.5TL, 3.2TL, 3.5RL and Vigor

  1. With the vehicle on the ground, remove the hub cap and pry the spindle nut lock tab away from the spindle. Loosen the spindle nut.
  2.  
  3. Engage the parking brake to provide leverage to help with loosening the brake disc retaining screws.
  4.  
  5. Raise and safely support the vehicle and remove the rear wheels.
  6.  
  7. Remove the brake hose mounting bolt. Remove the caliper without disconnecting the hydraulic hose. Support the caliper with a piece of wire.
  8.  
  9. Remove the two disc retaining screws. Remove the disc by pressing it off with a pair of 8mm bolts threaded into the holes between the studs. Turn each bolt two turns at a time. Release the parking brake after removing the disc brake retaining screws, and before removing the brake disc.
  10.  
  11. Remove the spindle nut and remove the hub and bearing assembly from the knuckle. The wheel bearing is part of the hub assembly and the components are replaced as one unit.
  12.  
  13. Clean the bearing and spindle with solvent before reassembly. Clean the mating surfaces of the hub and brake disc.
  14.  

To install:
  1. Install the hub and bearing assembly onto the spindle and install a new spindle nut. Hand-tighten the spindle nut; but do not final tighten it until the vehicle is on the ground.
  2.  
  3. Install the brake disc and retaining screws. Install the brake caliper and the brake hose mounting bolts. Tighten the retaining screws to 84 inch lbs. (10 Nm). Tighten the caliper mounting bolts to 28 ft. lbs. (39 Nm). Tighten the hose mounting bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).

  5. Install the rear wheels and lower the vehicle to the ground. Tighten the spindle nut, as follows:

    2.5TL and Vigor: 181 ft. lbs. (245 Nm)
     
    3.2TL: 242 ft. lbs. (355 Nm)
     
    3.5RL: 180 ft. lbs. (243 Nm)
     

  6.  
  7. Stake the nut to the spindle with a punch. Install the hub cap.
  8.
