Distributor Cap and Rotor

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Tag and disconnect the spark plug (ignition) wires from the cap.
  4.  
  5. Remove the distributor cap attaching bolts.
  6.  
  7. Remove the Allen bolt, attaching the rotor to the shaft.
  8.  

Inspect the distributor cap to housing seal for damage and/or cracks.

To install:
  1. Install the rotor onto the distributor and tighten the Allen bolt.
  2.  
  3. Install the distributor cap and tighten the attaching bolts..
  4.  
  5. Connect the spark plug cables, following the identification marks made at disassembly.
  6.  
  7. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  

INSPECTION



Inspect the distributor cap for cracks or burned electrodes. Inspect the rotor for cracks or a burned electrode. Replace if defective.
