2.5L Engine, Except Hybrid



Specific to:

Nissan Altima 2007-2008

  1. Discharge the refrigerant, as outlined in this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the drive belt, as outlined in the Engine Mechanical Section.
  4.  
  5. Remove the engine undercover.
  6.  
  7. Remove the front RH wheel and tire.
  8.  
  9. Remove the side cover from inside the front RH wheel well.
  10.  
  11. Remove the clip and reposition the power steering pipe out of the way.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the compressor connector.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the high-pressure flexible hose and low-pressure flexible hose from the compressor.
    WARNING
    Cap or wrap the joint of the hose with a suitable material such as vinyl tape to avoid the entry of any contaminants.

  17. Remove the compressor bolts, then remove the compressor using power tools.

To install:

  1. Installation is in the reverse order of removal, making sure to note the tightening specifications in the accompanying illustration.
  2.  
  3. Replace the O-ring of the low-pressure flexible hose and high-pressure flexible hose with new ones, then apply A/C oil to them for installation.
  4.  
  5. After charging the A/C refrigerant, check for leaks.
  6.  

Specific to:

Nissan Altima 2009-2010

  1. Discharge the refrigerant.
  2.  
  3. Remove the drive belt.
  4.  
  5. Remove the engine undercover.
  6.  
  7. Remove the front RH wheel and tire.
  8.  
  9. Remove the side cover from inside the front RH wheel well.
  10.  
  11. Remove the clip and reposition the power steering pipe out of the way.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the compressor connector.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the high-pressure flexible hose and low-pressure flexible hose from the compressor.
    CAUTION
    Cap or wrap the joint of the hose with a suitable material such as vinyl tape to avoid the entry of any contaminants.

  17. Remove the compressor bolts, then remove the compressor.

To install:

  1. Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
    CAUTION
    Replace the O-ring of the low-pressure flexible hose and high-pressure flexible hose with new ones, then apply A/C oil to them for installation.

  3. After charging the A/C refrigerant, check for leaks.

2.5L Hybrid Engine



Specific to:

Nissan Altima 2007-2010

  1. Disconnect the high voltage electrical system.
  2.  
  3. Discharge the refrigerant.
  4.  
  5. Remove the engine air cleaner front air duct.
  6.  
  7. Remove the engine undercover.
  8.  
  9. Remove the front RH wheel and tire.
  10.  
  11. Remove the side cover from inside the front RH wheel well.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the electric compressor inverter unit connector.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the high voltage electric compressor inverter connector.
    NOTE
    The lock lever of the high voltage electric compressor inverter unit connector must be moved from the locked position to the unlocked position before pulling up to disconnect the high voltage electric compressor inverter unit connector.


    CAUTION
    Cap or wrap the connector with a suitable material such as vinyl tape to avoid the entry of any contaminants.

  17. Remove the high voltage harness bracket from the electric compressor.
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the high-pressure flexible hose and low-pressure flexible hose from the electric compressor.
    CAUTION
    Cap or wrap the joint of the hose with a suitable material such as vinyl tape to avoid the entry of any contaminants.

  21. Remove the electric compressor bolts, then remove the electric compressor.

To install:

  1. Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
    NOTE
    The lock lever of the high voltage electric compressor inverter unit connector must be moved from the unlocked position to the locked position after connecting the high voltage electric compressor inverter unit connector. Check the high voltage electric compressor inverter unit connector to make sure it is fully seated and locked securely.


    CAUTION



    Replace the O-ring of the low-pressure flexible hose and high pressure flexible hose with new ones, then apply electric compressor oil to them for installation.
     
    Use only Electric Compressor Oil ND-OIL 11 for the electric compressor of the air conditioning system. Using other A/C oils may damage the A/C system as they may conduct electricity.
     
    Do not use florescent leak detection dye in the A/C system.
     
    After installation of electric compressor, check potential equalization.
     
    After charging the A/C refrigerant, check for leaks.

3.5L Engine



Specific to:

Nissan Altima 2007-2008

  1. Discharge the refrigerant, as outlined in this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the engine cooling fan and shroud assembly, as outlined in the Engine Cooling Section.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the high-pressure flexible hose and low-pressure flexible hose from the compressor.
    WARNING
    Cap or wrap the joint of the hose with suitable material such as vinyl tape to avoid the entry of any contaminants.

  7. Remove the front RH wheel and tire.
  8.  
  9. Remove the RH engine side undercovers.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the clamp and reposition the power steering pipe out of the way.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the compressor connector.
  14.  
  15. Remove the drive belt. Refer to EM-121, "Removal and Installation".
  16.  
  17. Remove the RH compressor bolts..
  18.  
  19. Remove the front compressor bolts using power tool.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the compressor wire harness clip from the compressor.
  22.  
  23. Remove the compressor.

To install:

  17. Remove the RH compressor bolts..
  18.  
  19. Remove the front compressor bolts.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the compressor wire harness clip from the compressor.
  22.  
  23. Remove the compressor.

To install:

  1. Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
  2.  
  3. For installation, tighten the compressor bolts in the order as shown.
    CAUTION
    Replace the O-rings on the low-pressure flexible hose and high-pressure flexible hose with new ones, then apply A/C oil to them for installation.

  5. After charging the A/C refrigerant, check for leaks.
