Removal & Installation



2.5L Engine

Specific to:

Nissan Altima 2009-2010

  1. Remove crankshaft pulley with the following procedure:
    1. Hold the crankshaft pulley using suitable tool, then loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt, and pull the pulley out about 0.39 inches (10 mm).
    2.  
    3. Attach suitable pulley puller in the M 6 (0.24 inch diameter) thread hole on crankshaft pulley, and remove crankshaft pulley using a suitable puller.

  3. Installation is the reverse of removal.

3.5L Engine

Specific to:

Nissan Altima 2009-2010

  1. Remove the following parts:

    Engine undercover.
     
    Drive belts.

  3. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
  4.  
  5. Remove the crankshaft pulley as follows:
    1. Remove the starter motor.
    2.  
    3. Lock the ring gear using Tool KV10117700 (J-44716) attached to the starter bolt hole.
      CAUTION
      Do not damage the ring gear teeth, or the signal plate teeth behind the ring gear when setting the stopper.

    5. Loosen crankshaft pulley bolt using Tool KV10109300 and locate bolt seating surface at 10 mm (0.39 in) from its original position.

    7. Position a pulley puller at recess hole of crankshaft pulley to remove crankshaft pulley.
      CAUTION
      Do not use a puller claw on crankshaft pulley periphery.

To install:

  1. Install crankshaft pulley and tighten the bolt in two steps.
    1. Lubricate thread and seat surface of the bolt with new engine oil.
    2.  
    3. For the second step angle tighten using Tool KV10112100 (BT-8653-A).
    4.  
    5. Step 1: 32 ft. lbs. (44 Nm)
    6.  
    7. Step 2: Tighten an additional 84-90 degrees

  3. Remove tool attached to the starter bolt hole.
  4.  
  5. Installation of the remaining components is in reverse order of removal.
