CAUTION
Before beginning service, thoroughly review ALL of the High Voltage (HV) system and general precautions at the beginning of this section. Failure to do so can result in serious personal injury or death.


WARNING
Do not tilt the HV battery more than 30° for extremely long time. Do not tilt the HV battery more than 60°.

  1. Remove the rear seat, as follows:
    1. Remove the rear seat cushion trim and pad, by pulling the lock at the front bottom of the seat cushion forward (one for each side), and pull the seat cushion upward to release the wire from the plastic hook, then pull the seat cushion forward to remove.

    3. Remove the seatback hinge anchor bolts.
    4.  
    5. Lift the seatback off rear parcel panel front hangers and remove the seatback assembly.

  3. Remove the rear parcel shelf.
  4.  
  5. Remove the trunk room trim.
  6.  
  7. Remove the inlet and outlet cooling ducts, as outlined in this section.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the connector (1) from the HV battery blower motor (2).

  11. Remove the HV battery blower motor harness clips and HV battery blower motor harness from the HV battery.
  12.  
  13. Remove the lock (1) from the RH cover (6) on the HV battery assembly (7) using the service plug grip (2).
  14.  
  15. Remove the nuts (3), bolts (4) and ground wires (5) from the RH cover (6).
  16.  
  17. Remove the RH cover (6) from the HV battery assembly (7).

  19. Remove the terminal cover and 12 volt terminal nut (1), then remove the terminal cable (2) and 12 volt harness from the HV battery assembly.

  21. Remove the battery shield contact (4), HV wire nuts (6) and HV wires (5) from the HV battery assembly.

  23. Disconnect the body harness connector (3) from the HV battery assembly.
  24.  
  25. Disconnect the EPS DC/DC converter connector (7) from the HV battery assembly.

    Fig. Remove the terminal cover and nut (1), then remove the cable (2) and harness. Remove the battery shield contact (4), HV wire nuts (6) and HV wires (5). Disconnect the connector (3) from the HV battery, then detach the EPS DC/DC converter connector (7)

  27. Remove the harnesses from the HV battery assembly.

  29. Disconnect the electrical connectors (1) from the EPS DC/DC converter (2).

  31. Remove the harness clips and harness from the HV battery assembly.

  33. Disconnect the vent hose (3) from the vehicle.

  35. Remove the HV battery bolts (1) from the HV battery assembly (2).

  37. Remove the HV battery assembly from the vehicle.

  39. If necessary, remove the following components from the HV battery assembly (procedures are in this section):

    HV battery blower motor and cooling ducts.
     
    EPS DC/DC converter.
     
    HV relay assembly.
     
    Battery smart unit.
     
    HV vehicle converter.

To install:

  1. Installation is in the reverse order of removal, noting the following steps:
    1. When connecting the vent hose (1), make sure that there is no clearance between the grommet (2) and body after installing the grommet.

    3. When installing the LH cover, tighten the nuts to the specified torque in the order shown.

    5. When installing the battery shield contact (1), position as shown in the accompanying graphic.

    7. When installing the lock to the RH cover, push the lock into the hole and ensure it is locked.

    5. Remove the seatback anchor bolts.

    7. Lift the seatback off the rear parcel panel front hangers and remove the seatback assembly.

  3. Remove the rear parcel shelf.

    1. Remove high mounted stop lamp (if equipped).

    3. Remove rear pillar finisher RH/LH.
    4.  
    5. Thread the rear seat belt RH/LH/Center through vertical opening and release from rear parcel shelf finisher.
    6.  
    7. Remove the clips, then remove rear parcel shelf finisher.

  5. Remove the trunk room trim.

    1. Remove trunk net rear and trunk net side (if equipped).

    3. Remove trunk floor carpet.

    5. Release the clips, then remove trunk rear finisher.
    6.  
    7. Release the clips, then remove trunk side finisher (RH/LH).
    8.  
    9. Remove spare tire cover.
    10.

  7. Remove the inlet and outlet cooling ducts.

  9. Disconnect the connector from the HV battery blower motor.

  11. Remove the HV battery blower motor harness clips and HV battery blower motor harness from the HV battery.

  13. Remove the lock from the RH cover on the HV battery assembly using the service plug grip.

  15. Remove the nuts, bolts and ground wires from the RH cover.

  17. Remove the RH cover from the HV battery assembly.

  19. Remove the terminal cover and 12 volt terminal nut, then remove the terminal cable and 12 volt harness from the HV battery assembly.

  21. Remove the battery shield contact, HV wire nuts and HV wires from the HV battery assembly.

  23. Disconnect the body harness connector from the HV battery assembly.

  25. Disconnect the EPS DC/DC converter connector from the HV battery assembly.

  27. Remove the harnesses from the HV battery assembly.
  28.  
  29. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the EPS DC/DC converter.

  31. Remove the harness clips and harness from the HV battery assembly.

  33. Disconnect the vent hose from the vehicle.

  35. Remove the HV battery bolts from the HV battery assembly.

  37. Remove the HV battery assembly from the vehicle.

  39. If necessary, remove the following components from the HV battery assembly:

    The HV battery blower motor and cooling ducts.
     
    The EPS DC/DC converter.
     
    The HV relay assembly.
     
    The battery smart unit.
     
    The HV vehicle converter.

To install:

  1. Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
    NOTE



    When connecting the vent hose, make sure that there is no clearance between the grommet and body after installing the grommet.
